Sorry, to bother once again... :\
Please help!
What is the download button for? What's its purpose?

I think, I've seen many people with synthasites that design their own templates, how is that possible?

you can download your entire site to a zip folder. All your resources etc. and pages are downloaded into folders on your computer and the site can be if you like republished.

Alot of the sites you think have thier own template are actually just advanced sites who have tweaked the templates out of recognition.

check out my site http://hexhaminfo.synthasite.com - this is the cleanslate template.

Theres alot you can do with a basic template if you use your imagination.
good luck - Lee.

Hello Miguel,

Thanks Lee!

The Download Site option is in place for those users who would like to download their site files and upload to another host.

It can look like some Synthasite users have designed their own templates, when in actuality they have not created their own template, just tweaked the template design aspects such as the banner and background; some Synthasite users have even created their own navigation scheme buttons.

There are many ways you can change the look of the given templates, just not the overall CSS. I hope this helps. If you have further questions regarding these topics please let us know.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hello Perko,
Are saying that you want to download your site to then upload to another host?

While we do offer the option to download your site and host it elsewhere, we strongly urge you to consider hosting your site with us instead, for the following reasons:

1. It is far easier to make changes to your site after you publish it. All you have to do is click the "Update my Site" button and your latest changes will be instantly applied to your live site. If you host your site elsewhere you will have to repeat the download/upload process each time you want to make a change to your website.
2. No technical difficulties! It just works! Uploading your site to your own webhost is technically complicated and may be a daunting process if you are not familiar with it.
3. We can offer you full support for every aspect of building and publishing your site. Support is available 24/7. If you host elsewhere, all support related to the hosting of your site becomes the responsibility of your hosting provider. We will not be able to assist you if problems arise as we do not have access to your hosting environment.
4. A team of experts provides excellent uptime for your published sites. Even when the site builder goes down for maintenance, your published sites remain up. If anything unforseen does go wrong, the SynthaSite team will respond quickly and effectively to solve the problem.
5. Unlimited storage and bandwidth.

Please let me know if this is what you are wanting to do.

Thanks!
Emmy

Emmy, I tried zipping up my files to transfer them to another synthasite website. It said that the file was too big. Is there a work around on this?

Hi Njoynlife - I would suggest dividing up your files and creating more than one zip file.

Unzip failed. Some files had restricted mimetypes or extensions.

Hi njoyn,

Unfortunately you can't upload a saved file back into a synthasite site. This is really only for transporting your saved sites to another publisher.
The question comes up frequently. rarely do you get a comprehensive answer on this one.

It is possible to zip up files from the File Manger and transfer them to another site's File Manager. You basically save the zipped file to your computer and then upload the zipped file in the other site's File Manager and then unzip it. I believe that is what njoynlife was talking about. But when it comes to actual site pages in zipped form than yes you are correct Peter and this cannot be done. An entire site in zipped form can only be uploaded to another host that supports php. I hope this helps clear that up.

I did a little searching, opened the file that was zipped and I guess the whole thing is saved in php, even pictures so to use this to recreate a second site on synthasite will not work. Answers my question. Thanks.

Hi Perko,

At the moment we have 6 styles where you can add a background:

1. Tastelessly
2. Burlap
3. CleanSlate
4. BareNecessities
5. NoFrills
6. SqueakyClean

These styles can be found in the first 10 of the style selection (click on 'Change Style' to see the style selection).

To change your background on your page, follow these steps:

1. Click on the "Properties" tab on the sidebar on the right.
2. At the bottom of the "Properties tab", under "Background image" click on the three dots (...) to choose or upload an image.
3. Click on "OK" and the image will be added as a background to your page.

Please note that the background will apply to that specific page and not to the whole site. To remove the background image, follow the same steps above and click on the 'None' button in the image selector dialog box that opens.
