file:///C:\Users\SOPHAN~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtml1\06\clip_filelist.xml

What is this? I've just completed a Xenu link scan of my site and it's popped up with this. With the xml file format I thought it would have something to do with a synthasite sitemap. Is that right? I've looked at all the links on www.a-class-driving.com/online-suppor..., where the link/problem was found, but I can't see it on here (when viewed with web browser, firefox)

if you go to the html editor on that page you will see after the roundabouts link the following text -- from what i can see you dont need it.

maybe 'save page as' first then try to delete this code from the test page - if its ok do the same for the real page then delete the tester.

Im on vista and use firefox. How have I (sounds like a silly questions already) managed to insert a link to a file I know nothing about onto my website? I've gone over the page a couple of times already and can't see the link in there.

I've also used the search tool in vista to look for this file and comes up with nothing. And going through c drive, user etc ...nothing that looks like this.

go into the editor on that page (is it a text widget?) - clcik the html button and try to find the code i have listed above (y ou can search for text in the html editor just like you do with a noraml webpage Ctrl+f )
if you are unsure about delting all that then just delete the first line.
But the best thing to do is delete all of it.

to answer your first question, you managed to add it by copying in text from word or another source, anything that is copied in should be first run through notepad to clear it from unwanted code.

Hmmm, I tried what you said Duke, to be honest, I've never played/looked at the code before, way too much for me. I got rid of what you asked, however, Im now getting another 404 error message.

Do you think I missed something when I deleted it the code?

great - did you delete all the code i listed above or just the file link? either way im glad its fixed - :).
PS. it is a pain, but whenevr you copy text in from an external source its best you run it first through notepad (by run it i mean copy it into notepad and copy it straight back out) - sounds pointless i know but it strips away unwanted code - remeber only a browser can see code you might think you only have text but actually your text conatins extra styling code that you dont see.

Hi Duke, thanks again. I'm wondering how the code got in there in the first place. I don't use an html editer, as that's too advanced for me, when I put in links I used the links icon at the top of the page and then just select what webpage I want from the drop down menu. I wouldnt have copied and pasted it. Not an issue, but starange none the less. Thanks again, youre a star!
