What yola should include

Thing yola could do to make yola silver is making sub-pages and adding a swf player
So you could add a swf game and still will be play it in the same page.
And also if you could put pull down tabs
That would be awesome

Thanks
Sam

Here some picture so you know what i am talking about

Hello,

You can add SWF files and drop down menu's to your Yola site.

To embed a wmv, wma, swf, flv, mov or rm file into your site, please follow these steps:

1. Upload your file to your File Manger.
2. Locate the URL of your file. (e.g. http://yourdomain.yolasite.com/resour....
3. Please go to freevideocoding.com and select the media you want to post.
4. Enter your Media file location (the URL of your file).
5. Select "Embed the Player".
6. Click on "Make HTML" button.
7. Highlight and copy the code provided.
8. Drag and drop an HTML Widget, paste the code, and click "Save".

You should see your video working. Please note that there is a buffering period - the speed of this is dependent on the speed of your internet's server.

Right now our styles we do not support creating drop-down menus. Although it is probably not quite what you have in mind, here is a link to a tutorial which gives you an alternative way to handle subpages: Creating Subpages .

It is also possible to add a drop-down menu to the body region of your page using custom HTML. Here is a link to an article that tells you how to do it: http://personal-computer-tutor.com/dr...

To implement this in Yola you would:

1. Drag and drop an HTML Widget onto your page.
2. Paste the code generated from the above link into the HTML Editor.
3. Edit the code to replace their examples with the items you want on your list - you need to edit the URLs and the display text.
4. If the items on the list are links to other websites, paste the URLs for each website into the example code. If the items on the list are pages in your site, you need to replace the URLs in the example code with the URLs of your pages. The easiest way to get the URLs is to publish your site and copy them from your browser window. Paste them into the code. Click on "Save" and republish your site.

You can also find information on creating drop-down menus on this site: http://yolacodes.yolasite.com/.

I hope this helps.

Jeremy

Well it work just the way i wanted but it's a little-bit slow and laggy when increasing the size of the player.Yola should add in a built in swf player and should be exclusive for yola silver custermers.

Thanks for the help, I am just saying it would be easier to do eveything in yola site builder rather than using other sites and 3rd parties.

I like how weebly made it so easy and simple, and hope yola does that too

THANKS

I also like the new, improved Yola silver. Can't wait for the CSS and dropdown menus. I'm having a REALLY HARD TIME getting my own dropdown menus (including HTML and CSS code) into the HTML widget. As my website is product related, I have a lot of categories and sub categories for which I need a dropdown menu that is both user-friendly and appealing to the eye.
Just how soon will these features be available as I'm struggling to revamp my website on my own.

Hello Sydney - glad to hear you're enjoying it! The CSS editing will be released quite soon - it's at the end of development. Submenu's will be a bit longer - unfortunately we can't give you exact dates on either at this time.

I really won't to customize and move thing around on yola site builder, like the navigation bar, banner and how wide and tall my site is ,with that you should be able to move anything around like the navigation bar.
I am just putting it out there.

If that doesn't work out ,could someone tell me some css programming software.

Thanks
Sam

Hi Samlam
Thank you for telling us your wish list! For now we will be implementing on the CSS customization feature, but who knows? We may also develop some more features for making the Sitebuilder easier to use, further down the line.

When we started our business in Aug-2010, I quickly realised that we'll need a website to reach more customers.

As I had absolutely no experience in sitebuilding (or much computer knowledge either), I found Yola to be very easy - even for someone like me that just barely knows how to browse the internet, let alone create a website.

There is just a few things bugging me about Yola that I've come to notice over the past few months of using it.

1. Slow response time. I only experience this with the site builder, no other site. Very frustrating if you have lots to do on it and it is so slow.
2. Down time. Another frustration, not only for me but my clients as well. During the past 3 months I've noticed that (mostly due to slow response time) I can't access my website and neither can anyone else. A gateway 503 or time-out error is displayed.
3. Dropdown menus - or a lack thereof. My website houses literally 2,000 categorized products. It makes it difficult to find what you are looking for on my site without it - it also makes it quite user-unfriendly without the proper navigation tools. It also creates a lot of work for me as I need to implant small yukky looking dropdown menus and links all over my site, just so my customers can find what they are looking for without too much frustration. It's good news that the menus will be added to Yola Silver soon - I hope it will be sooner rather than later.
4. No Facebook connection. I wanted to place a kind of forum on my site where my clients can place comments on my website that will automatically appear on Facebook and vice versa. I was a bit disappointed that this feature is not supported by Yola as so many people use Facebook and it's such as great way to reach more people by word of mouth and personal contacts.
5. Newsletter options. This would be a great addition to Yola to keep my clients up to date with the latest product additions and specials.

Other than that I love Yola and hope to see the changes that you are working on very soon.

Hi Sydney

I have read your post and will respond to the best of my ability to each of your points.

First of all we are pleased to hear that you have been using our service and found it easy to use. Above all we are pleased to hear that you are using a website to help you reach your customers. However, we would certainly like to improve the experience for you.

1) Slow response times in the sitebuilder. This is quite difficult to troubleshoot as many factors can influence it. We have tracking to show us what response times people are experiencing around the world and at the moment they look pretty good on average. However, we would need to know more about your local set up to understand why it might be slow for you. Can you tell us what browser and operating system you are using and what internet connection you have?

2) Downtime. We consistently have better than 99% uptime on our sitebuilder and published sites. Having said that, any outage is viewed with the utmost seriousness and we would like to ensure that we get as close to 100% as humanly possible. If there is a system wide issue this is actually easier to identify and fix. The current problem with 504 errors only affects a small subset of users, it is intermittent, and as yet we have not been able to replicate it on our end. This makes it much trickier to solve, but it is still our top priority to fix and our engineers are working on it.

3) Drop down menus: this feature is currently in development and will be released this year (hopefully in April sometime). This will be available to all Yola Silver customers. We agree that it is very important and look forward to making it available. I have seen the prototype and it looks really slick and easy to use!

4) No Facebook connection. This would be a great feature. It is on our list but is not scheduled yet. I will add your vote to this request!

5) Newsletter options. Have you checked out Constant Contact? This is a great service that allows you to build a mailing list, send out newsletters etc. See: http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp. Realistically Yola is not going to build this feature in the short to medium term, although we may partner with a company specializing in this area. In the meantime there are a number of options such as Constant Contact that you can use with your site.

Thanks for your feedback. Yola will always be a work in progress, so we appreciate hearing about what matters most to you so we can work on it.

Thanks, Monique. It seems that problem 1 & 2 is connected. I've just come across another forum topic relating to the gateway issue. The problem seems to be local, affecting South African users with Telkom as their ISP - such as myself.
Hopefully this issue will be sorted out soon as there are quite a lot of us who are loosing revenue due to this problem.
Thanks for the Constant Contact link, will check it out.
Can't wait for the dropdown menus! It has been long awaited.

Hi libby: Yola is not really a gaming site. Although it is possible to put games on your site using widgets, we do not develop these ourselves, nor do we plan to as this is not the nature of our service. Our aim is to allow people to create professional business websites. If your main interest is in games you might want to consider shopping around a bit more.

Hello SamIam

Do you want something like this for your menu:

http://tester3.yolasite.com/nathans-d...

If you want that, you can just copy that code and then I'll show you how to make the drop down tabs work. (If you have a little bit of HTML knowledge you should be able to see how it is formatted)

Sincerely,
Nathan
