What's a good video hosting site that allows private hosting but public embedding?

I am looking for some advice on video hosting. I was with motionbox for a primary reason - I could embed private videos. This is important to me as the site I am building is a portfolio site where I want to show my work (primarily as a writer of TV commercials) without getting in trouble from my current employer for posting a bunch of our work to youtube. Youtube does have a private feature, but you have to make sure people are on your list... but this prevents say an HR person at a company from sharing with his/her boss unless I also add them to the list. Does anyone know of any free or inexpensive sites where I can embed videos for public view on my yola site for anyone given the link, but not made public on the video hosting sites? I don't expect tons of views a month or anything - this is just a portfolio site to help me land a new job or extra freelance work. Thank you so much for your help and suggestions.

I forgot to say that motionbox was just acquired by another site that doesn't work as well for my purposes, thus needing to find something new that fits my needs

Thanks - I actually did that. There are a lot of video hosting sites though and some links were outdated, so I figured it didn't hurt to ask here too :)

Hello Josh

You may want to consider using freevideocoding.com?

To embed a wmv, wma, swf, flv, mov, or rm file, please follow these steps:

Upload your video into your File Manager. If your video is too large, you may need to use a file hosting site for your video.

1. Locate the URL of your file. e.g. http://yourdomain.yolasite.com/resour....
2. Please go to freevideocoding.com.
3. Select the media you want to post.
4. Enter your Media file location (the URL of your file)
5. Select "Embed the Player".
6. Click on "Make HTML" button.
7. Highlight and copy the code provided.
8. Drag and drop an HTML widget and paste in the code.
9. Click "OK".

You should see your video working. Please note that there is a buffering period - the speed of this is dependent on the speed of your internet's server.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

At Vimeo you can make your video private, even with password protection and you can embed it to your site.

Thanks Valika - I had looked at that one but wasn't sure about requiring potential employers to input a password... but it does seem like the best bet so far and recommendations for it certainly help make me feel more confident that it'd work for my needs - thanks again! :)

Hello Bozidar

I am not aware of any file hosting sites that provide unlimited uploads. They will all vary with their allowable upload amount. Here are two that may work for you:

What about YouTube? It's Googles buddy too and may help with being seen more.
