Hi Brandon

I would suggest starting here: Google Search

Perhaps other users can share their expertise in this area and give you some recommendations as well.

Brandon, you may not wish to pay out huge amount, suggest a visit to this site it is a versatile graphics manipulation prog:
http://www.gimp.org/
Believe you can save/use formats like JPEG (JFIF), GIF, PNG, TIFF as well as PSD. An alternative program to PShop.
Also , you may be interested also in one that does illustration: Visit this link:

you can download the older version for free, pay 9.99 for older version,
or if you want the latest I think it is around 99.00 (does lots more !).
Or... another (unfortunately now bought by Corel) is PhotoImpact which has
lots of imaging/photo things - extremely reasonable price, also does web grahics, etc etc.

Hello Brandon,

Photoshop is a program on your computer to edit and manipulate files. Many images you see may be developed or "cleaned" with photoshop. Unfortunately this is not a free product. It is at least $600 and any thing that you download from a non Adobe center is illegal.

Photoshop Elements is a "lite" version of Photoshop and runs around $90 to $100. I have used it a lot and you can do quite a bit with it. Fireworks is also a cheaper software from Adobe for about $300--I haven't used it a lot yet but I've heard that a lot of web designers prefer it to Photoshop.

Paint.net is a pretty nice free program for Windows. Another free one is Gimp but I've never used it, but a lot of people do.

Yeah I have fireworks! It's great and I've edited loads of images and made numerous web banners for my site. . .the only problem is I want photoshop for the yola designers website where I want to submit a PSD (Which they specifically say I need to do - - - a PSD), but I dont think fireworks can do that!

Hi Brandon,
From what I can tell, it is possible to do so in Fireworks, it should be an option in either the "Save As" or "Export" dialogs.

Check out this link on tips for saving .psd files in Fireworks- http://blog.blue2x.com/?p=871
