I was happy with my yola until I found another free site that has all sorts of cool templates, slides etc. Where can I find slides and stuff to make things look like a real website? (besides that stupid "slide" with the cheesy game attached?)

Hi blukatdesign

There are many ways to spice up your website, depending on what you want to achieve.

If you want to add slides, you may find some helpful information in our online tutorials section - Tutorial: Photo Galleries, Portfolios and Presentations and Site Structure & Design.

For more help with making your site look interesting, you can also find some tips and helpful ideas in our Site Gallery section to see what other Yola site users have done with their sites.

I hope this helps you make your site more interesting :) Maybe you would like to share your site here for comments once you have made the changes?

Good luck with it!

Thanks
Nazlie

Hi blukatdesign,

You can do pretty much anything with Yola. You can add vitrually any snippet of HTML code into a HTML widget on your site to get the desired effect you are looking for. You don't have to use the standard tools in the right hand column.

I don't actually like the slide widget either. I hate the timeout that it has to display it's own ads. A good alternative is Picturetrail (thanks Ed).

Don't worry about other sites offering cool templates & slides etc.
You can achieve all of those things right here.

Hi Boomer & blukatdesign

Someone also suggested this site to me for creating slide shows: http://www.kizoa.com/.

I must admit, I have not tried it out yet, but you are welcome to give it a try. It might work for you :)

Let me know if you like it or not!

Kizoa has some cool transitions, was more time consuming to make and I couldn't get rid of the black frame. Picturetrail was quicker and I could blend it into my white background so it didn't look like a TV.

Now, can I add cool transitions on my pages?

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback! I'm sure others will appreciate this as well.

As for cool transitions, I believe if you look under "Slideshows" and then under "Fancy Transitions", there you can add the type of transition you want for your slideshow. I hope that helps!
