p.s.

the only thing is, with the new background, my brands page is realy long, so my background image would also be long and take AGES to load!

Alex your new page looks fine. Your new background really is not big as it's only 17 kb.

I like the old background. More importantly what is your preference?

hmm, i prefer the old one a little bit more, also what i meant was, i would have to make my background image alot longer so it would fit the brands page (which gets bigger all the time so the background image would need making bigger to make it fit) so i suppose the old one is more practical

That's true but with file compression you may still be able to keep it within the 10 second magic limit.
I'd probably try it Alex. Compress it as a jpg and just see what happens.

The good thing is that you know your background can take the expansion without showing any sign of degrading.

Here's my thought. I like your new solid background but would make it the darker red, #AA0000, to match the non-hover state of your navigation bar, logo and the darker text. To me, the brighter red/orange is less professional.

Just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth. :)
