Why was I not given a time scale for when my problem will be resolved?

I reported a problem yesterday and was told why it happened but was not given a time-scale why is this. This the exact reply I got. Hello.

Thank you for your reply. We are researching your request and we will get back to you as soon as we have an update.

Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

Now you tell me if this is good enough especially if I am running a business and a non-profit. I was even asked about the non-profit website by someone who happens to have a keen interest but I had to tell him that is was down. The level of embarrassment I felt was ridiculous and it sounds not legit. When it is it was a good thing, is I was truthful and I got his contact to keep in touch when it is back up and running.
