Why do some words on my site appear in green and when clicked produce a pop up related to another site?

Hi Kenny,
Have you installed any advertising code on your site recently, like Kontera ads? Also, could you share your site's URL with us?

Hi Kenny,
I took a look at your site and the source code and can't find anything that could be causing this, which page(s) does it occur on? And what browser are you using. I may be able to replicate it with this info. Also, what plugins do you have on your browser (if any)?

Hi Kenny,
Give me a bit of time to give you an answer on this. This happened to someone else a while back and Sanja knows what the problem was... however she is not online right now. I have put out an SOS to her, so when she she gets back to me I'll post in here what causes this.

you can use the Snipping Tool if you have Windows. That works great, and you can take a screen shot of a certain place on the screen instead.

Sorry to cut in here guys but I didn't know about this either so thought I would try it, they say it's good to learn something new every day :)

Unfortunately, when I go to START and start typing the word "snipping" in, I get as far as typing 'sn' and I have Nero Photonap Viewer Esstentials open up, can't see anywhere here to do a screenshot though :(

Suggestions? it would be helpful to know as I do need to explain to a friend how to do a SS of how she is seeing my website page later today.

You guys are great :)

Hi Kenny,
From that screenshot you've shared, I think it may be that 'mywebsearch' toolbar, someone correct me if I'm wrong

Hi again guys

just checked again on my daughters lappy and despite the "mysearch" toolbar still being there the green links seem to have disapeared, must be the twilight zone!

Anyway thanks to all of you for a great job and especially the heads up on the snipping tool..... I love it.

Thanks guys

Good to hear it's sorted, you may want to ask your daughter to remove the toolbar, I think it may be spyware

Aha, look at this link: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_MyW... and there is a section that says: "Tracks you text input online and sends back to a server, this is the spyware part.
They spy to provide ads targeted based on your search patterns, etc. "

Well done Sherlock!!

Not much I can do about that then, at least I know now and know that it's certain toolbars etc that cause it. I noticed that my daughter has "Zwinky" (whatever that is) on her lappy so that was probably the cause. I used her comp to finish off my site and first noticed the links when i looked at the published index page.

Thanks again callum, that was above and beyond the call of duty!

Hi Indi

afraid I can't help but can offer this....so you learn something I just learned

My daughter uses Vista and thats where I got the snipping tool, but I use windows 7 and when I type snipping in the start I get something called "record steps to reproduce a problem" I'm guessing it all depend what version of windows you are using. Shame I loved the snipping tool

I use Snipping tool all the time on Windows 7. You should be able to use it like Sanja said below.

Oh, I have the Windows 7 Home Premium. But, you should still have it. Maybe there is a free download some where.

Thanks Callum for your excellent help on this! I would have said the same thing as you :)

Kenny - you should be able to use the Snipping Tool on Windows 7. Please take a look at this link for info on how to do this: http://www.ehow.com/how_5738583_do-sc...

Hi Sanja

unfortunatley the version of windows 7 that I am using is the starter version (a chopped down version) that came loaded on my netbook, and in this version the snipping tool has been left out :-( A shame because it's a fantastic little tool. I'm sure I can find something similar on the web for free.

I'm just glad that I found out about it, and if it's helped a few other people to find it too then thats great.

Thanks for all the help

For screen captures I use "cropper" by fusion8 design, works well and above all is free, and has various output modes such as printer, jpeg, and clipboard.

Hope this helps.
