If you can't find your site on Yahoo or Google it means that your site hasn't been crawled/indexed by them as yet.

The process is that you first submit your site (Yola submits your site to Google on your behalf)

The search engine crawlers will come along at some time check your site and hopefully index it.

This process may take a few days to a few months.

Hello,

It takes time for new sites to be picked up and indexed by the search engines. Before Internet users will be able to find your site using the search box, your site will first need to be indexed by the search engines.

Indexing is the process of the search engine algorithm going through each of your website pages, making a copy of the page, and adding it to its index. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months and unfortunately, is out of our control. If you take a moment to imagine the millions of webpages on the Internet you can see why this can take some time.

Until your site is indexed, people will be able to find your site by putting your address, such as mysite.com, into the browser window at the very top of the page.

Please check out our Knowledge Book topics on:

Verifying your site with Google Webmaster

Getting your site indexed by the search engines.

Hope this helps!

This is because your site is not yet indexed by these search engines. It is a long and lengthy process and it will be sometime before your sites at the top of the search results page.

Yea... I've done everything needed on or before March 31st... google webmasters, submitted sitemap, submitted url to be crawled, google analytics, get clicky analytics, google adsense, kontera, properties (different window title for each page, keywords, description, etc.), external (relevant) links, sitemap for visitors to view, sourced each article, etc., etc., and still my site hasn't been indexed at all... So, after nearly 17 days... not even on the list. So when you hear someone say a few days to a few months... ignore the few days part lol. But yea, if you need some ideas to help with indexing - do what I did (listed above) but you'll still have to wait awhile.

Hi Donald,
I know if can be frustrating waiting for your site to be indexed by the search engines, but it can take up to a few months for this to happen. In the meantime keep doing good things for your site like adding more content and building backlinks.
