How long has your site been published? It takes quite a bit of time for a website to appear in a search engine. If your site is new, then you'll have to type the URL directly into your browser rather than the search box. e.g. http://simplyeighties.com

The quickest way to get into a search engine listing is to comment here on getsatisfaction - just like you have - but also letting everyone know your URL.

When I type my new website into google, it comes up with some of the comments I have made in getsatisfaction. http://chillloutmusic.synthasite.com

Also, have you submitted your website to Google Webmasters? Type "webmasters tools" into your search box to go there.

By the way, what is the URL of your site?

Hi there Ed,
I would suggest that you take a look at the Yola SEO Tutorials as you will lots of good information there. Specifically please take a look at #4 in the series, Promoting Your Site.

You will find lots of information in there that will help with indexing in the search engines which is necessary for you site to be found using the search bar. Until your site has been indexed people will be able to get to it using the browser window at the top of the screen:
