I tried to add the easy comments widget, it goes to my webpage but the problem is it already has comments and what ever settings i choose it defaults back to the original state.

Hi Sabrina

EasyComments is not a good option for the reason you mention. Here is an alternative:

For a simple comments feature on your site, you can add this code from http://js-kit.com/comments

<!-- <div class="js-kit-comments" permalink=""></div>
<script src="http://js-kit.com/comments.js">&lt;/s...> -->

(leave out the <! -- and the -- > at the beginning and end of the code. )

1. Drag and drop an HTML widget onto your page.
2. Paste the two lines of code into the HTML editor that opens and click on "OK".
3. The comments will be tracked automatically by js-kit and be tied to that page's URL - if you add it to other pages, those pages will have their own set of comments. When you create the page, js-kit will know that you're the owner - only you will have the ability to moderate posts.

You will then have a place where people can leave comments.

Hi Monique

I had this problem too. I wanted to remove comments and the only way I could
do this was to delete the widget but each time I reloaded the page the same
messages reappeared.
Have just taken your advice and the old messages have disappeared but I am unable to moderate the messages.
Can you help me out.

Can you clarify for me that you are unable to moderate the messages in the js-kit widget, please?

Hi Syra,

Are you logging in to your account with js-kit to moderate the comments there?

Yes

I have tried this.
I was not the first person to enter a comment.
So I feel I have lost control .
Have tried js-kit for support but they don't seem to know me.
Is there someway I can start again or is there another comments widget
that I can use.
Seem to have messed this up completely.

Hey Syra

I am using JS-Kit. This is my suggestion.. but I don't know if it'll work for you. Delete the box that contains your comment. Drag a new html box into your webpage and add the code for the comment. Update it immediately, then, on the updated site, you need to be the first person to write a comment to gain adminstrative access. So, write something into the comment box along with your real e-mail address and submit. This should then allow you access to moderate your comments. I hope I make sense. If not, feel free ask more questions. Good luck!

Okay.... now you should be able to go to the JS-Kit website and click on "your settings". You should see a page come up that says "you manage". It have the info for you comment box - the style, various options, etc.. Also, along the top, you'll see "your sites" "moderation" and "dashboard". Moderation is where you'd go to delete the comments. Have a try now and see if that works?

Yes I have tried this several times
There is nothing saying "You Manage"
If I click on the moderation buttonI get "Comments moderation

JS-Kit does not know which sites you are controlling. Please install a JS-Kit Comments Widget on your site, leave a test comment, and come here again. If you think you have lost your management privileges, visit Your Sites section and follow the instructions to reobtain them.

I have followed there instructions but am just led around in circles.
Have tried contacting them but no reply .

Seems you are the only guys out there who answer.

Hmmm..so strange!

I know you've probably tried this too.. but just so that I know what you've done! Have you tried going through the JS-Kit page to put on your webcode? What I mean by this is going to the JS-Kit page, clicking on comments, getting the code, and etc?? Maybe that'll do the trick? I initially got my code from JS-Kit (not from Synthasite) so maybe that's why it worked for me?

Okay... this code should look familiar... did you put in a permalink??? Put in your site's url. ie. http://syralarkin.com
or if you want it to go to a particular page then add the backslash after the url. ie. /chris-lakin-custom-fine-handmade-guitars

div class="js-kit-comments" permalink="PUT IN YOUR LINK HERE">--!>

<!--<script src="http://js-kit.com/comments.js">&lt;/s...>

Give that a try and see if that works? Be sure to take out all the <!-- and --!>

Do something useful like make the dinner.
But I will be back.

Believe me I am more than grateful for all the help I am getting on this one.
Just that I have been stuck on it all day.
Brain was no longer functioning

I have just tried litttle us idea but when I uploaded the code all I got was code.
I'm going to give up temporarily on putting up a comments page.

Will come back to it when I can think straight.

You are the most helpful bunch of guys I have come across on line.

Little us

After a total of 4 emails I finally had a reply from the
Js-Kit team yesterday. Took them about 5 days to get around to answering.
Still they have now reinstalled me as the administrator of my comments page
so alls well that ends well.

As I was not the first person to write a comment to my page I had lost control.
An earlier response could have saved a lot of frustration.
I guess they are just busy and I am inpatient.
Still thanks to all those who helped on this one.
Now I"m off to learn about blogging
