Having trouble with pasting the html code for a zmags publication into the html editor on my webpage; getting a windows internet explorer error message saying "an error has occurred with your pasted javascript code". We have had zmags check the code and it is all clear, and it works with safari and firefox browsers, but not with internet explorer. Anyone had this

Hi shelley,

I think a number of us have had problems with HTML and IE or other browsers. The various browsers are not synchronised and some commentators have predicted this will become more noticeable as the newer upgrades/versions of HTML are adopted.

The more progressive browsers will pick up on it first but of course they run the risk that they may be the first to show some anomaly with the new codes.

Thanks, that sheds some light on it. Any thoughts on next steps?

you could log into your editor from the browser casuing you problems and try to find a happy medium there.

This is a problem for me at this moment, but from firefox to all other browsers. It looks 100% perfect in firefox, then elements wont show up in other browsers or are out of align, The funny thing is you can see the change in the site editor if you view it in that browser (!) If i edit my site with IE i get different results viewing in firefox - its messy - It really need fixing . How do big sites get round it? more than 1 CSS file?

Interesting, so does that mean this is out of our hands then, and no amount of fiddling around with the html code will help I wonder?

let me know if it works out. remember when creating a happy medium sometimes you need to compromise, just ever so slightly of course. I have made my site more cross browser friendly by doing this.
If you can't find that medium just make it look great in your favourite browser. :)

Thanks for the advice. Have now got it working in IE7 and Firefox through the zmags people but still not IE6. We are hoping to get around this by using an exception message for IE6 users with a link to the URL rather than using an html script. Will let you know if it works!

glad it worked out - i understand your viewers come first but in my opinion its time to forget about IE6 - I'm using IE8 if anyone is that far behind lots of things on lots of sites wont work so i think they will understand its there fault not the sites.
Lee.
