Hi Nancy,

It takes time for new sites to be picked up and indexed by the search engines. Before Internet users will be able to find your site using the search box, your site will first need to be indexed by the search engines.

Indexing is the process of the search engine algorithm going through each of your website pages, making a copy of the page, and adding it to its index. This can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months and unfortunately, is out of our control. If you take a moment to imagine the millions of webpages on the Internet you can see why this can take some time.

Until your site is indexed, people will be able to find your site by putting your address, such as mysite.com, into the browser window at the very top of the page.

For more information, please take a look at our tutorials: Promotion, SEO, Analyzing Traffic & Advertising.

Hi Nancy, just be patient is all I can say. I could not find my new site with Yola when I loaded and I tried and tried and still would not come up. It took not just a few months but almost 6 ! Now when I type in it comes up first on a few search engines. On Yahoo it doesn't come up first unless I actually put " at each end of the words. ie "name" + "..." (the second lot I divided the search words of site into two) and then it came up right away. As is said : it may not happen straight away, but it will happen. That is of course if you have done all the right labelling etc etc.
