Hi Alex

Yola is not split in 2, although we are lucky enough to have offices in 2 countries. There are many reasons for this. Here are a few that might interest you:

1) Yola started in Cape Town. The people who run our platform (which is highly technical and specialized) still live here. Most of the support team also lives here.
2) It is very important for internet startups to have a presence in San Francisco because that is where the action is for web-based companies, and we want to be right in the middle of it!
3) There are huge advantages to having people in 2 time zones - one of them is the ability to provide 24/7 support (except in the case of the recent Yola party, of course!)

There are challenges because we have to make sure we are in constant communication with eachother in order to ensure that everything keeps running smoothly. This means some late nights and early mornings for a lot of dedicated staff. But we feel very privileged that Yola has deep roots in two of the greatest cities on earth: San Francisco and Cape Town!

I used to fish under The Golden Gate Bridge on the north side...On a windy day it makes all sorts of wild sounds. When you see it from where I was you have to wonder....How were they ever able build such a thing where they did....Pretty awe inspiring.
