Thanks for the question. We follow the practice of many other online businesses and separate the welcome mail from task-oriented mails to make it easier for users to identify mails that require a task from them (e.g. account verification, credit card update)
If we put the verification as a sentence within the welcome mail, the task could be missed by some readers.
