Why won't my XSPF music player work?

Hey, new here...
I've been trying to put up an XSPF flash player on a Synthasite page, but it doesn't seem to work.
I uploaded the xml (.xspf) playlist and the xspf_player.swf to the website, and, like, sort of the player won't embed... I just get a white square...
If I right-click on the white square I get "Movie not loaded..." Well all the pages are password-protected, but here's a screenshot.

Hi Arlo,

If it helps, we found this tutorial: http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creatin...

Remember that where they ask you to add your filenames in the code, you'll need to add resources/filename.swf. For example, the test code from the above link would be changed to look something like this:

<!--
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="170"
data="resources/xspf_player.swf?playlist_url=resources/test.xspf">
<param name="movie" value="resources/xspf_player.swf?playlist_url=resources/test.xspf" />
</object>
-->

If that doesn't help, can you post your site URL so that we can take a look?

Another alternative is to add a playlist from playlist.com - let us know if you'd like more info on that.

Well, the adress is http://www.alquin.synthasite.com/ (it's going to be a fansite for a band...)
Here's the page I want the samples to be:
http://www.alquin.synthasite.com/best...

I think the playlist is correct...
http://www.alquin.synthasite.com/reso...

And this the embed code:

I can't see what's going wrong...

Hi

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I needed to set it all up on my end to test.

I got it working properly and suggest that you try it without full paths but rather

resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/xspf_player.swf
resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/playlist.xspf

and so forth

Also do the same within your playlist file

See if this works as I got it working like that

Just to be clear I mean drop the whole url ie drop the http://www.alquin..... and just use relative path from resources as above

Ok... I'm not really sure what to do. You see, I'm new to HTML and have only been using it since I created the website, which is... A few days ago.
So, yet again I'm asking for help. How exactly do I "drop the whole url" into the html?

Hi

Ok what I meant was where ever you have typed http://www.alquin.... resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret etc edit so that it starts from resources/. In other words you MUST NOT include the http://www.alquin part

So my code for example is

<!--
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="170"
data="resources/xspf_player_slim.swf?playlist_url=resources/playlist.xspf">
<param name="movie" value="resources/xspf_player_slim.swf?playlist_url=resources/playlist.xspf" />
</object>
-->

see I have not typed <!-- data=http://www.jason/resources/... --> and only <!--data=resources/....-->

The same goes for in the playlist file

Hope this helps

Hi everybody out there,

Right, it works now, except for the XSPF player.

Here is the code:
<!--
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="170" data=resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/xspf_player.swf?playlist_url=resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/allshows.xspf"> <param name="movie" value=resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/xspf_player.swf?playlist_url=resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/allshows.xspf" /> </object>
-->

This is the playlist:
http://alquin.synthasite.com/resource...

I did as Mr. Jason said, it all starts at resources/Samples/Best_Kept_Secret/.

Hello Kev,

I think your problem is easily solved.

Is your playlist from a feed source.I mean by that, is it connecting to another place to get the tracks or have you physically got the mp3 files in your "resources" folder (File Manager)?

Would you mind telling us what your website name is? This can help to get a feel for the issue.

Thank you Kev.

Can I clarify one aspect please?

Have you placed your mp3 files physically on this page or are they in the "File Manager" area?

Hi Alex,
Flash does work in Synthasite; you can put an swf file on your site. Are you having some trouble adding this?

Does Amazon have some sort of rule regarding how many ads you can place on your site? What happens when you put the ads on your site?
