Yola's CEO, Vinny Lingham, just posted the following on his blog: http://www.vinnylingham.com/why-yola-...

This post gives some really deep insight into why SynthaSite became Yola today. I strongly encourage everyone who has an interest in Yola and their future with our company to take the time to read it.

There are exciting things ahead for all of of us. We want all of you to be part of this great future we are building together!

Go Yola!

I thought the name change was because some morons can't remember the name of SynthaSite. Or they couldn't spell it. Poor babies. Cry me a river.

Yola does not even come close to describing what the site is, which is to build and publish a website.

Sheesh Mick it was just a name change. Believe me, Yola creators care less what you think, so just chill man.

Actually we do care what people think and we are quite comfortable with dissenting views on our name or anything else. We would be very happy to hear your opinions as well as Mick's or anyone else's, provided they are shared respectfully.

Monique,

Fine but "Richard" I mean Miguel, started it with being abusive to me first, even though he didn't use bleeped language he was abrasive and I didn't care for it. So there you have it. He must have been one of the people that complained about the SynthaSite's name being to difficult to remember or spell. Oh well

I still stand by my first assessment. YOLA still doesn't speak to me as a web development program name. It's a cutesy name that means nothing.

Sorry but that's what I think.

I was extremely upset to find that the possibility of all my hard work just disappearing when I opened up the site and found some other site. Thinking that SynthaSite was no more and Yola killed it. Ok that's a bit extreme but I'm sure you can understand my frustration and then to have some jerk go off on me didn't help.

Best regards,

Mick

Hi Mick

Thanks for explaining your reaction to the name change. I am sorry you had the bad experience of accessing the site and thinking that all your hard work was lost. We tried to use several means to inform people of the impending change and reassuring everyone that nothing was changing besides the name:
1) Get Satisfaction,
2) Our blog
3) A message on our homepage
4) A newsletter to all users who had opted in to receive it

However, we are aware that some people might not have seen one or more of these announcements and might have been alarmed when they saw the new website. We regret this, and we have tried to make ourselves available as much as possible to answer questions that people might have.

With regards to the name itself, may I ask you if you had a chance to read Vinny's blogpost about the name selection process? I ask because it directly addresses the issues you raise.

I think some people are just going to love "Yola" right away and some might take awhile to warm up to the idea. (I am prepared to admit that had to take a quiet little moment to say a loving good bye to "SynthaSite" before I was able to fully embrace "Yola," myself.) Our commitment is to invest the new name with all the things you know and love about SynthaSite as well as many new and exciting connotations as we move forward with our development.

Hm... I'm truly sorry if I offended you Mick, I didn't noticed I was being to hard on you.
o_O

Also, I didn't actually complain about the name change, It really means no change for me. I see Yola just as I saw Synthasite.

On the other hand, I believe you are the one that has trouble with the name change because otherwise you wouldn't have started such pointless discussion. In a good way, I'm sorry if I'm being to forward on you but this is just my opinion. :)

Hi Rich - did you resubmit your site to Google Webmaster when you bought the domain? You'll need to do that if you want to verify your site that way. You can also submit your URL to Google on this link: http://www.google.com/addurl/?continu...
