Another good idea. Your site's good for this idea! Don't know if it'll be a success or a possibility.

What if you offered persons to submit a poem along with a small donation ($1, $2, $5, or $10) and at the end of every week you select a name out of a hat to pick the winner. The winner gets their poem posted on the front page, free advertising (a link to their website), and half of the donations collected. $1 donation would be 1 entry into the hat and $5 for example would be 5 entries into the hat. It's kind of like a raffle! The winner gets half of the money collected and you get half of the money collected. :) I would do something like this, but I really don't see how I can with my website.

I would make it so the poems have to meet a "theme" from one week or month to the next. For example, December's poem would have to be Christmas. And they must be unique or original. If you're able to search any line in the poem... will the same exact poem be found under a different artist?

Wow... I'm full of suggestions...

I'm noticing a picture of Beverly on your home page... you should create a page about Beverly and a poem biography and her interests. Ask her to write a short autobiography. If you don't know the person yourself or she's unreachable or unwilling to write one herself, just write it yourself as much information as you know about her and a list of other poems she writes. Put a link to this page on Beverly (and other poets) in her picture so that if someone clicks on her picture they will go to that page.

Also, I've noticed that some of your links throughout your website are non functional. Go view your own website so you can be aware of this...

on the homepage, I believe where it says, Captions, Contests, Reviews, etc... they should be links right? Maybe you're just updating, but from my end they aren't clickable.

And also, on your links page... my website and lulu's website doesn't appear to be working links which means a user will have to type it in to get to it. Make sure when you type in a link to add the http:// and in most cases the clickable link should be added but sometimes you may have to open the link editor to do it. Now an opinion... instead of the actual link as text, I would type in for example You Can Never Be Too Smart and highlight then open link editor and add link through there. The html for that is...

<!--
<a href="http://youcanneverbetoosmart.com" target=blank>You Can Never Be Too Smart</A>
-->

The target=blank opens it in a new window or tab so they aren't directed away from your site.

As for lulu I would provide a link specifically to your books. Open the page with the option to buy your books... if you don't know how to get there, type in Bill Manson (or whatever name you used - William, etc.) in the search box on lulu and all your books should pull up, click on the title. From that screen, copy the link into link editor... this is done after you type in text and highlight the text then open link editor. Use the name of the book followed by written by Billy Manson published by Lulu. Example (the actual html)...

I'm assuming the following book is yours...

<!--
<a href="http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback..." target=blank>The Poets Speak</A>
-->

Which whill show this...

But since you have books published through lulu, I would direct visitors to your books instead of just lulu. Lulu I'm positive isn't providing you extra promotion because your linking to them and pretty certain they aren't link exchanging to your website, so you really don't have much to gain by listing lulu's homepage, I would promote your books instead. :)

Maybe even provide (on your website) the buy now buttons lulu offers. It'll take your users straight to the page to buy your books and it looks professional. My kids book is in my online store - a buy now button is provided. And when I get the (more in demand book) an Introdcution to Markup Languages published, that'll be in my online store, a link to it in my links page, and on my homepage with an image of the cover and one page within to promote my book. :) - I already have about ten pages written.

picture links work great. On Beverly's page it says "poetr" when it should be poetry?

Well... it's not necessarily "not wasting time" - it's more like... working too much to become famous lol... I spend nearly 16 hours a day on my website and writing books. Although, I still spend time with the family. I often sit with my children while working and I only get 4 hours sleep specifically so I can have 4 hours of free time. :) I also take one day per week to not do so much. After I get my first good source of income, I'll slow down, I just have to try to find that good source of income so I don't have to work so hard to achieve it. I'm hoping that writing this book will provide a little bit of income that I can slow down a little bit on my next book and my website.

my first book though, to let you know, won't specifically teach you how to use markup languages (html, xml, etc.) rather, it'll basically give you a run down, explain some of the changes different versions undergone, and teach you general information about markup languages. It'll also give you good insight into which markup language is best for your needs. Because it's not going to teach you "specifically" about how to use and incorporate markup languages such as html, I'm going to make my "introduction" book the cheapest. I might only make $1.50 per book instead of the $5.00 to $7.00 I plan on making with the others.
