Working with custom navigation menu

I just created a custom navigation menu for my site because I want to have total control over my navigation menu. The menu that comes with the style is still there without any menu tabs. How can I get rid of this menu so that my custom menu displays properly? Do I have to choose another style?

Is the only way I can have a custom nav menu on all of my pages, to post the code in HTML widgets on all of my pages or is there a better way of doing this?

You may go to Site Properties then Page Manager. Once you are in Page Manager set any pages that are set to display in menu to not display in menu (This is done by clicking the Green Checkmark and turning it into a Red X).

Once that is done you save changes and republish your site. Your site should then only contain the custom made menu you made.

I did that but all I see is the custom menu and the blue horizontal bar that had all my previous menu items. I was wondering if there is a way or getting rid of that or do I have to choose another style?

HI Randy,

I don't see a blue horizontal line on there. Did you manage to get it removed? If not, please post a screen shot so I can see what you mean. This is what I see:

Is this what you are seeing?

Please let me know.

I have a HTML code that'll remove any horizontal lines left over from the menu if you are seeing a line. But, I looked in your website's HTML source code and I don't see your menu anymore, so I think the system removed it out since there aren't any pages in your Navigation.

 Hello Randy,

I, too, do not see the default menu. Perhaps can you try clearing the cache in your browser?

Please let us know how this goes!

Hi Sanja!

i changed styles and that seemed to work. I would like to have the ability in Yola to create my own nav menu that would automatically appear on all of my pages without having to manually enter the HTML code on each page. Is this possible? Are there ways around this?

What I like to have is total control over my menus without having to depend on the nav menu that is supplied with each style.

Hi Randy

Sanja is currently offline. I will forward your question to her as well.

If you have a Yola Silver package, you will be able to change the menu on all pages by changing the site CSS! I'm sure we'll be able to give you some guidelines on how to do this if you unfamiliar with CSS.

Thanks Nazlie!!

Can you let me know how I can change the menu on all pages by changing the site CSS! I do have the Silver package. Would this simplify things for me when I create a custom Nav menu, and want to make changes that are reflected across all of my pages easily?

Hello Randy,

I haven't really had the opportunity to add a custom navigation through the Site CSS so I am not exactly sure how this would work. Here are some general rules though for you to follow should you want to try this. Please be sure to try on a test page first!

ONLY the CSS codes can go into Site CSS section - otherwise you end up breaking your site. For your script codes and HTML codes, you can try entering them into the Header section of your Site Tracking code! This should apply the custom navigation to each page.

We have a number of users who are quite advanced in this area so I'm hoping that one of them might be able to help you even further!
