Working with pages

A while back, I created 26 pages (One for each letter of the alphabet). Each page contained anchor links in a HTML widget that referenced archived radio snippets. I really liked the way this was set up because I had set up a two column widget with a HTML widget in each column so that the archived snippets would display in an organized way.

Here is my problem. I have a navigation menu that I am currently using on my Yola site. On my Bennett Archives page, I have all of my snippets listed in one page because if I had to make changes to the navigation menu, I would have to copy/paste 26 times (one for each alphabet page). I was just wondering if there is any way around this so that it is more efficient. My site at the moment consists of seven pages. The main reason being that if I have to make changes, I would only be dealing with seven pages instead of over twenty six or whatever.

Now I know I can use the menu that comes with the template and that would solve my problem, but you will notice on my current menu, I have under Radio Archives, two pages.I thought it would look better this way instead of having them at the main menu level. Thought? Ideas?

I would love to find out if there is a way around all of this. Thanks again for all your help!! Mucho appreciated!

Hi Randy

I am not sure if I understand this correctly, but are you trying to carry over the custom code for your menu to new pages you create? If so the "save page as" (drop down arrow next to the save button) would do the trick.

If I have misinterpreted your question, please let me know.

Hi Monique,

That is what I am doing at the moment. I used the save as feature to create the other pages and then I inserted some code that I copy/paste into the other pages. Should work fine.

My question was that when you use custom menus, you have to copy/paste them into every page for them to work. I think I posted something some time ago when I started using Yola. I went back to the menu that comes with the template because when you add or remove a displayed page, the menu updates accordingly across all pages. I am looking forward to the day when Yola will be able to do this with custom menus.

Thanks for getting back to me Monique!!

Very good point! This is a huge drawback with custom menus. I am totally with you on the need for this feature!
