When I am trying to use yahoo site Validation, it says validation failed with the below reasons even after I added the file to my site ...http://www.hyderabad.synthasite.com

Failed to authenticate your site ownership due to the following reasons:

* Verification file y_key_737b7159dbbd73b5.html: not found (http 404)
* Meta tag:There was an internal error in the authentication process. We will try again shortly

Guide me in this regard

Here is a link to Yahoo! Site Explorer https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ which will allow you to verify your site.

Here is a link to a blog post that explains the tool further: http://www.organicstats.com/blog/inde...

I hope this helps you verify your site!

To be frank enough I tried the above answer given by you at least 20 times before posting my question here. Even after adding the file on my site in the file manager and even created a link and attached the file to link (page) and that too had not worked.

Let me know what should I do

Yahoo says the file uploaded should be

at the root level of your site directory.
The expected file path is http://www.hyderabad.synthasite.com/y...

but what ever I do the file is placed in sub directory.
http://www.hyderabad.synthasite.com/r...

If the file is not loaded in the root Yahoo will not be validating the site

Hi KiranZ,

I apologise if the info wasn't correct - things change!

Here are the steps for Yahoo! verification - some of it may be repetition for you, but I've included it for the benefit of others visiting this post :-)

1. Go to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com
2. Under My Sites - add your site URL
3. You will probably be asked to log into Yahoo!
4. You will be at the verification page where you can see your site and a green 'authenticate' under the Status section
5. Click on Authenticate
6. You will be asked to add a META tag to your page by creating an .html file containing a particular string, for example -> type the string 3dbbc191f960f71d in a text document and save the file as y_key_3c1c67c916366e7d.html
7. Upload the .html file to your website (using the File Manager) and republish
8. Back on the Yahoo! verification page, click on step 3 - 'Ready to Authenticate'. You should get a screen saying 'Your site is pending authentication'

I have followed the steps above with a URL of my own and I'm still waiting for authentication to go through. I thought I'd share the steps with you in the meantime. If it works or not - I'll let you know!

Hi KiranZ,

I'm sorry I didn't come back to you sooner - I have been trying the various options available on Yahoo and they're not working very well! I would like to check for another option and will come back to - I haven't forgotten!

Hi KiranZ - validation with Yahoo! requires a metatag or a file uploaded to the root directory which is not currently possible in SynthaSite. I wish I had better news for you.

I also get a 404 from yahoo for this and I can access the html url key no problem in another browser window. What gives? Even the meta tag is written properly.

Hi Paul,

It is not possible to verify your site with Yahoo!. Verifying a site with Yahoo! requires a metatag or a file uploaded to the root directory which is not currently possible in Yola. Verifying your site with a search engine such as Google or Yahoo is mostly for the purpose of getting statistics on your site, and not so much for indexing purposes. We have made it very easy for you to verify your site with Google Webmaster and submit a sitemap, here is a link to the tutorial: Verifying Your Site With Google Webmaster.

Hi Kershnee,

First of all you're hott. Also, I convinced my my HOST to remove all blocked IP addresses from their server. After that, Yahoo! Slurp verified my index. HOST must have blocked their IP, glad I found it.

Now I am going to find out what the heck yola is.
