Hello Rob and Jeremy

Can you both try clearing the cache in your browser to see if this helps?

Tried that, not really any different, IE 8, FF 3.6.13. Win 7 32bit. Even gone as far as rebooting, no improvement.

OK cleared cashe, rebooted machine, rebooted home network, routers, wap's hub's the lot. Still pretty poor overall, and dies when I use the picture widget and it calls the ajax api's at google.

Perhaps it will just go away, I'll try again tomorrow.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for trying. We really appreciate it. Please do let us know what happens tomorrow. It may have something to do with your ISP. Could you possibly try using a different computer at a different network to see if the issue still persists?

Still slow, this forum is OK though, as are my sites. Currently the main Yola login page is timing out. Cleared cahe again, set firefox to clear cache on exit no different. Don't understand why other sites I visit seem OK. If it was my ISP I would expect a far broader effect than this.

I'll keep you updated.

Hi Rob.B,
I'm sorry to hear you are still having trouble with this. I have done a bit of testing with the Yola homepage in both Firefox and Safari and it is loading quite quickly for me. Please keep us updating on how this goes for you and if the problem persists.

Thanks for the update, but it is still timing out; the green bar firefox bottom right gets to about 80% then stops. I have just swapped from my ISP's default DNS servers to "Open DNS" (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.222.220) Still the same; can't even get to the yola login screen. Just tried Chrome and Opera, they time out too. As before this forum and my Yola sites load just fine.

Is Jeremy still having issues? (See earlier in this chain of posts).

Hi Rob.B,
Hmm, I'm sorry to hear you are still having trouble with this. My next suggestion would be that you try to access yola.com from a computer on another network. We have not been receiving other reports of this nature recently and I can't say for sure if Jeremy is still having problems as he has not re-posted on this thread.

I wish I could get this solved for you, but I am not exactly sure what the problem is as I cannot replicate this on my side.

Minor update. If I go to http:// www.yola.com, it times out just "waiting for yola", if I go to http://www.yola.com/login then I get the above issue.

Hi Rob.B.
We're trying to narrow down if this might be something geographic because the reports we are getting are sporadic. Can you let me know who your ISP is please.

Can now get in using http://www.yola.com/login, but it's hit and miss as to if it gets past the calls to ajax.googleapis.com or not. Trying not to do much with images (hard as my site is image intensive) as that calls ajax.googleapis.com too.

I am currently unable to access www.yola.com

I have resorted to using http://www.yola.com/?cid=500155 , this works out fine
in order to then login or access my sites.

I have cleared my cache, etc, used open dns addresses, with no luck.

Always the following address :(
Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the update, we are glad to hear that you are able to access www.yola.com. This issue has had us all stumped since none of us are experiencing troubles accessing www.yola.com. I do see that Emmy has asked who your ISP is a few times, would you mind sharing that with us? It will allow us to investigate a bit further.

My ISP is BTInternet, one of the largest (if not the largest) ISP in the UK, Sorry bu I really don't see it being an ISP issue, that just does not add up to me especially as I have switched from their DNS provision with no improvement. Can you please explain your reasoning behind this thinking.

Hi Rob - I'm sorry that we seem to be going around in circles, it's very hard to find out what the problem could be when we are unable to replicate it on our side. I've been troubleshooting with one of our engineers and if the page is hanging on ajax.googleapis.com it could be that there are connectivity issues with one of the Google services that we use. It could also happen if your internet speed is slow. At this point I can only suggest checking whether there are speed issues, try a different browser, try a different network - I think a few of these have been suggested already.

OK, your techies will blame me, I being in the IT environment at a technical level know it's not me. So round and round we go. Soneting is amis with www.yola.com page, I can ping it with a return of 85ms, not nad from the UK, but your server takes way,way longer to return that page, hence the timeout. www.yola.com/login works, same server, same ip address same ISP.

I don't think this is ever going to be resolved to be honest; but it's nice to know (sorry Jeremy) it's not just me. My solution is this, www.rtb2walks.co.uk is currently un maintainable on Yola, so I'll re-host it. www.rtb2oneperday.co.uk is now effectively a lost cause. If it's in a state where I can get it back u to date once the walks site is rehosted, I'll rehost that too. If not it's dead. www.rtb2fineart.co.uk is suspended. www.rtb2photographic has already been re-hosted.

On the upside; I'm not a paying Yola user so minimal financial inconvinience to me; no loss to you.

Best of luck going forward; because I think this issue isn't going to go away when I've gone.

Thanks, I don't want to go, but I can't work this. I have now worked out haw to get back into the site, the google api thing seems to have sorted it's self out. Now I cant add links to images! The whole thing just goes grey!

I have cleared cache, tried a different PC, I can go to lunch and it will not have moved. Currenly it seems the yola site builder has it in for me, to be honest it's this issue, after issue trying to do what was and should be simple that is driving me away.

Hi Rob.B.
I am really glad to hear you are now able to login to Yola to work on your site. Unfortunately you have stumbled upon an intermittent bug we have been seeing with adding a link to an image when using Firefox, we are working on a fix for this right now. What I can suggest at this point is that you try another browser such as Chrome or Safari to create your image links until we have this remedied. We definitely feel Firefox is the best browser for people to work in, so this is a priority for us. I am sorry for the inconvenience and will let you know as soon as this has been fixed.

Sorry, but this has to be lack of testing. I really don't wish to load Chrome of Opera. FF is one of the two most popular browsers in current usage. Sorry but this is ridiculus.

I know you wont listen, but stop changing stuff until what you have actually works, As for being intermittant, that's not the case for me. I can reproduce it 100% every time!

Hello Rob,

We are sorry to hear how upset you are. We do agree with you that Firefox is a fantastic browser to use, very popular and the most compatible with Yola. However, this issue seems to be happening in Firefox alone. While the workarounds we suggest are not the most ideal, they are what we can offer for the time being.

We will always listen to our customers and try our best to help remedy the errors they stumble upon. We will certainly keep you posted when a fix has been made.

OK NOw I'm back to not being able to log in, all I get is "Waiting for www.yola.com..."

I know your server is up and that both inbound and outbound routing is OK (see ping below - I have obscured your ip address)

Wich given where I an in UK (Derbyshire) thats not a bad speed. So it seems yola is for some reason not serving the page, or something else is going on. It's affecting all my machines windows and linux, but I seem to have no issue accessing anything else, even this forum is OK. If you wish me to do a trace route for you techies I can provide it.

Yes I am frustrated, and givien the issues I'm having can you blame me? (Sorry when I get a bit wound up my typing goes to pieces!)

Hi Rob.b,
Have you been able to try from a computer on a different network. We are not getting other reports of this currently. I do understand how very frustrating this is, however I am able to successfully login to Yola as well as access published sites. Can you possibly try from another network?

Managed to find another route into the login page www.yola.com/users still getting timeouts on your home page and the wierd message above around 25% of the times I select a site to edit. Once in sitebuilder all is ok (at the moment).

I'm sure there used to be an option to take a backup copy of a site, but I can't find it any more. Is this still possible? if so how?

Thanks for letting us know, Rob.

I think the feature you are referring to is the 'download site' feature. We have removed it because it had limited use, and we feel the support needed for the few users that did need it didn't warrant us keeping it as a feature.

Although we can't ensure that downloaded will work in other hosting environments, we have kept a way that you can still download your site.

1. Load the Sitebuilder of the site you would like to download

2. Paste the following snippet into the URL bar (erasing what is already there)

javascript:void((new ide.requests.actions.downloadSite()).send({site:ide.user.getSite()}))

3. Once you hit "Enter" your site will start to download to your computer.

Please note that self-publishing has been deprecated and we can't offer any support if you have difficulties hosting your site elsewhere.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the help. As you can see I'm haveing major access issues, myst admit things are much better using FF4.11beta, at lease I can get in and do stuff. But I need to move my walks site as I have a backlog of updates whic I need to get done. My one per day site will stay with yola if I can get it back upto date.

No problem with rehosting support I can handle that. I just need to recover the text content, I have the images and stuff in the site folder at this end.

Your patience with me and support, yes I know I get frustrated at times, has been great.

I am having ALL the same problems as you (except for the ajax.google thing), for a few months now. Deleting the temp internet files and closing and reopening the browser window would work for a couple of minutes, then I'd again have all the problems you had. And, of course, I represent the situation of trying another computer, another server (Qwest in the USA) and another browser (I tried IE 8, Google Chrome 10.0.648.204, and Firefox 3.6). Today, with all these problems still occurring (couldn't even get into www.yola.com, although I could ping it OK), I tried Firefox 4 for the first time and all seemed to work OK. I hope this continues. I hadn't been able to edit my pages for months before now. Emmy, I think this problem might be a lot more widespread than yola suspects, as many yola users are probably like me, having problems for a few month but without going to the yola forum to report it. It might be a good idea for yola to SOLICIT comments on this problem from its users on its homepage.

Well, I spoke too soon. Now when I sign into yola.com using Firefox 4, all I get at my.yola.com is a blank page, even after deleting my Firefox internet files and trying again. I just tried again to log into yola using Firefox 4 and it doesn't even log in now. Just keeps trying forever.
