Yola Desperately Needs Some of Pagebuilder's Advantages

I moved to Yola from Geocities Pagebuilder, because it's being closed, and while Yola has many features I love, I dearly miss having 'floating and layering' capability with my text boxes, html widgets etc. I have no freedom to move those boxes. I can only reduce their egdes. Everything is very static. I also miss background color on the tool bar. I hate having to write code and I'm a boomer too old to fully get it. I'd like your development team to work on adding floating, layering features and background paint feature on the tool bar (right next to text color) as a priority. With floating & layering, you could offer frameless pages for free design. And Pagebuilder offered horizontal line widgets and bullet widgets I also miss. And ALL without code.

Hi B*

Nice to have you here with us at Yola.

I'm sure your ideas will be taken into consideration... a couple of them are already in the pipe works.

You can add basic bullets from the text editor. I have added advanced ones to my site - http://www.hexham.info/business (but this is custom code - if you want to achieve this just ask)

Any help you need with code just ask here you'll get an almost instant answer.

On the postive side using Yola and this forum will make you much better with html... Its never to late to teach an old dog new tricks :)

@ Lee - Thanks for your response!

Hello B

Welcome to Yola. It's always a bit of an adjustment as you move from one web-builder to another as they have different tools and functions. I hope that the transition period will not be too difficult.

1. Text boxes
With Yola's site builder tools, you certainly do have the freedom to move your boxes around. By using a page layout that comprises of more than 1 block, that will give you the versatility needed to move your boxes around. You can change your layout by clicking on "Change Layout". Alternatively, for even greater flexibility, you can just use the 1 column layout, then drag over the 2-column widget (aka column divider) from the right-hand side. Then, drag another 2 column widget over and place inside one of the columns. This will then create 3 columns. Then, drag your text box and place inside one of the columns. You can drag the middle green bar to make your columns wider or narrower.

2. Background Color
Yola has recently upgraded their background color function which allows you to easily apply to all the pages (not all templates have this function but most do). You can go to "edit page design". There you'll see "Page Background", then click on "Format Background". You'll see a color block where you can select the color you want for your background. Then, you can apply the background to just one page, or to all pages.

I'll pass along your suggestions to our developers for future consideration. Thanks. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. =)
