In a nutshell the Yola Experts Program (YEP for short) helps web designers create their own business designing websites with Yola. And just like with Yola, joining is FREE!

Hmmm very interesting...

I was thinking that something like that would make a great program 6 months ago and there it is. Thanks for reading my mind...

At the end of summer and when I had more time I was going to create many website accounts and create YOLA accounts with each and then create websites for local businesses who are those Mom and Pop types and simply drop off a business card and say "You want, you can have... simply email me and I will transfer ownership and even teach you how to edit it" Great that I won't have to create all those new email accounts after all. ;)

A great addition that I thought all those 6 months ago I would do would be to create a local chapters of YOLA users in the Seattle Puget Sound and monthly have events in the area where we all gather and have seminars to reach out to the communities in which we live.

I was thinking that we could host small business owner site building cram courses and have mentors standing behind them guiding them and right there step by step teach them how to build a 5 page website with all the bells and whistles that YOLA has to offer. A group of 100+ fledgling site builder business owners and have a select group of mentors helping would suffice I think. Have the main guru mentor build a website on a huge monitor screen right in front of everybody and when asked by anyone in the group how to do something to be able to show everyone at once and in live time.

Imagine the response the community would have when the free website builder comes to them and teaches the masses in addition to offering the free website service... I think that if such a thing could be recreated widespread and in most communities worldwide that it would reach a whole other market.

A bring your laptop and learn build a website type of event. Coffee, cake and YOLA... LOL

OK, I am a bit of a dreamer and altruistic but when I can afford the time, equipment, hall rentals and such I think that is exactly what I will do with at least one weekend a month.

Call it the YOLA reserves. "All we ask is for one weekend a month and one week a year for the national conventions" LOL I'll be the USA chapters first President LOL Self elected of course... LOL

Anyway, I think the YEP program sounds great and I look forward to using it for when I have that extra time to invest in my pilot program of creating sites for the Mom and Pops...

Kudos gals and guys...

Mr. Honeypot said it...

I thought that the UK had plenty of fish there. ;) Why not utilize the new YEP program yourself and do something like it there...

This is a very interesting concept!

Just a couple of questions.... If a person decides s/he wants to be onboard and offer their skills - will you be assessing if this person should be an expert? How will you make that determination?

I'd hate to utilize a person that Yola has endorsed only to find that the skills are sorely lacking as a designer.

Will you have an area which showcases the designs Yola Experts have created so that users can see samples?

An in depth crash course to make sure that they can pass the YOLA test first and get their backing.

From what i read on the yep page the whole program is in development - it'll be fun to watch it 'develop'.

Remember also those of us who have skills in other areas of web building.
I think of my self as the opposite of a good designer.

This looks very interesting Monique - im signed up.

Im already kind of doing it - where i am now (greece) is a little backwards in the IT field - im currently charging 200-300 euros for a site - i have 3 on the go at the minute, im trying to get them done over a 1 week timescale and then offering continued admin support.

check out this one its almost done. (about a day or 2 more)

Brilliant. Thanks for signing up. I am pleased to hear that you are doing this already, so you will have some good experience to bring to the program. We have quite a clear idea of how we want to run this to make sure it is a good deal for the customer and the designer, but feedback and ideas are always appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to ask the person spear-heading this program to respond.

@Littleus: For now I can say that there will be a system to grade the skills of the Yola Expert and allow customers to leave feedback.

We will keep you posted and will certainly pay attention to feedback and suggestions.

@Ed - you certainly are a visionary! Your idea of Yola gatherings - coffee and websites, sounds brilliant. Maybe Yola Experts can be encouraged to start these in their local area.

I am coo coo for that Idea... Only if the Honey Bear can be the unofficial mascot and I the emperor Oh I mean honorary Prez... ;)

Seriously, I am still some months away from that amount of disposable income. I was thinking grass roots by the end of summer but more organized later. You know Baby steps...

Imagine all the excellent free press you all could get from having free seminars around the world for all those hurting in these hard times...

Funny, we were just talking about something like this on the forum a few days ago. I'm interested in this idea because you have people who come on to this forum looking for people to design their site.

P.S.Whats really funny is that I started a site yesturday called 'Yola Site Designer' with the view of building sites for people!

I signed up. There is going to have to some kind of moderation of sorts, because the designer will need the password for the account, and if the client wants a paypal shop they will need access to their paypal account etc, So theres going to have to be a lot of trust there?

I think that it sounds more like a design it then transfer and teach thing which would be easy enough. The added site support would be between the builder and the new owner but as it is so simple I think that the designer/builder would be redundant after the first month or so. If it is a business venture for the designer then a short term continued education addition would be something to throw into the overall price.

Well the paypal accounts are safe enough as all the designer needs is the email address to implement the widgets on the site. It is drag and drop ;)

This sounds very exciting I have a great opportunity here. I have learnt so much from designing and developing my two websites and I would love nothing more than to make a living from it.

I have access to a few thousand professional artists many of which are in need of a website. Using Yep I feel I that I can create a professional approach and make a business out of this.

Yola - thanks again for being the best thing since sliced bread!!!

Good luck with the rest of the development

Hey guys I just wanted to introduce myself. My name's David and I am part of the team that launched the YEP program. I'm really excited to see that you guys are all in favor of the program and look forward to the future.

We will be releasing the "business in a box" model to the Experts very soon. This will include a training booklet, brochures to hangout to clients, and much more.

@ed- the idea of having seminars is great. We have already reached out to local schools about having YOLA Workshops and your idea of reaching to communities is right in the same ball park. I will keep you updated on that idea.
So far the feedback I have received is awesome! If you guys need anything feel free to contact me at YEP@yola.com. You can just put my name in the heading.

Hey guys,

Just wondering if this program is still running? Tried to use the links above to read more about it, but they were faulty.

I am currently learning HTML and CSS and would love to start a small business building website for others who don't have the time or interest to do it themselves.

Cheers!
