Hi All

I am sorry to inform you that we have just become aware of a bug that requires urgent attention.

We are disabling logins so that we can find and fix the problem. I sincerely apologize to anyone who was hoping to edit their sites now. We will try to have this resolved as soon as we can, and of course we will keep you informed of all developments on this thread.

If you are currently in the site builder, please save and exit.

Heya! I know IT problems can be a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' but... any idea how long it might be before we can get back in?

Thanks :)

I just wanted to come back on this thread and post an update.

The work our engineers are doing to restore access is going to be difficult and lengthy. We did not plan for this, but we are taking steps to rectify the problem as fast as we can. However, I need to ask you to prepare for the fact that we could be down for a number of hours.

I recommend not waiting around for a fix, but rather checking back in a few hours to see what our progress has been.

We are very sorry, as we are aware that many of you may have had urgent work to do on your sites. We are regarding this in the most serious light possible and doing our best to resolve the situation.

We all realise that we don't live in a perfect world where nothing ever goes wrong, but we know that Yola staff always pull out all the stop to put things right. We will wait with patience - and a glass or wine ;)

Thanks for all of your hard work. I just got started a couple of days ago building a web site and have really enjoyed the way things have gone so far. I know with this kind of operation many things can happen without any notice and mess things up. But at least you guys are on top of it and fixing it as soon as you can. I've got some other stuff I can work on to get ready for my new site so I'll have part of it ready when you are back up. I'll check back in tomorrow. Thanks again for all of the hard work you are doing.

Hey DJ Jammin it takes some time. I have done it before... Just be patient and in about three weeks or so it would be up (It took my site about a month). Nevertheless make sure that you have summited your site to all search engines: "It wont just happen like magic". I wish you the best!

When there is a server and or tech issue.

Yola

Pay Hosting Services I have used.

Notice may or may not come hours later on their home page.
Hints that there is a problem on their servers and it isn't something I did

Customer service via phone......Wait is at 1 hour or more
Customer service via email.......Shuts down
Customer service via online help.....Shuts down

This is no exaggeration

Thanks John. We feel it is the least we can do for our customers. Outages like this are a significant inconvenience, and there is nothing more frustrating than having this compounded by the lack of information. Our engineers are progressing steadily towards victory, but this is a serious bug, and will take time to address. We are so grateful for everyone's patience, support and understanding in the face of this difficult situation.

smithy: the symptom is that when some people open their sites to edit them, they see an error message on their page. It only affects a small percentage of users and we believe caught it early. However, we are now busy doing the following:
1) Preventing more sites from being affected by disabling logins.
2) Correcting the cause of the error.
It may take awhile, but we trust we will be back to normal soon.

Hi Kameron. I understand that you are in a hurry, and I wish I could tell you that we will be up soon. But I would rather be honest with you and tell you that this is going to take a number of hours. I would advise you to do something else and check back in a few hours, or tomorrow, to see what our progress has been. Our engineers are working as fast as they possibly can, but this is a major error and is going to involve significant time and effort to fix.

Thanks everyone! I too have faith in our engineers, as I know how seriously they take their jobs. They are committed to providing an excellent service, and correcting errors if they occur. Once this is fixed we will also do all we can to prevent it from occurring again.

@Kameron: repasting this in answer to your question:

hmm.. i must admit that i'm rather impressed with the service level rendered by Yola in keeping customers up to date on such an unexpected event

coming from singapore where we are so used to efficiency and such.. what i'm seeing here at yola surpassed any of my past experience with our local ISP and local telco

thumbs up to ye folks!!
keep up the good work!!

such level of transparency is something i have not experienced cos most companies' technical support dept tends to "hide" from the customers instead of coming out upfront abt the whole situation

Thank you so much! We would hate our customers to think that we didn't care, or weren't working on the problem. This came to light early on Sunday morning (PDT), but our engineers got out of bed, canceled their week-end plans and got to work. Still, it should never have happened in the first place, and now our job is to fix it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Thanks soo much for the updates Monique.. I actually work at a software company for my 9-5... but them music is my 5-9... joined on Tues, and already added a TON to my site, hosted my own .com and hiding the yolatag to make it seem more official. Can not believe how easy it has been to create.

I am hopeful that there was a saved version of my website cuz I changed the text on the homepage, but didn't yet publish it. Then it kinda froze.. (my company calls this a stack-dump.. when it happens with our software)... Anywho, thanks soo much for the updates.
Cheers,
Mike

I am sure it will all be fine, but if anything is amiss on your site when logins are restored, email support@yola.com, and mark it "attention Monique" and we will take it from there. Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you are excited about your site, and I really appreciate you bearing with us during this temporary interruption of service.

I saw that you have been able to hide the yolatag to make it seem more official...can you tell me how you did that , some of the people who have been to my site have commented on the fact that we use a free site builder and it is becoming a problem.
Thank you
Thomas
P.S to yola just a quick thank you for all your hard work, It is a pleasure to work with the site builder.

Yola now offers you the option to remove the Yola Link for a fee of 9.95 USD per year. This is an account level feature, so you can remove the Yola Link for all sites in your account! To do this:

1. Click on "Edit Page Design" in the Site Builder
2. Click on Remove "Yola Link"

For more information please see: Yola Link Removal FAQ.

Thank you also for your words of encouragement. We are glad to hear that you enjoy using the site builder. =)

Hello Doug,
If you change your subdomain to a yolasite.com subdomain your .synthasite.com subdomian will automatically redirect to the .yolasite.com one. So people would not have to change the link on their sites because it will go to the new one. Hope that helps!

Hi Sheela. Can you tell us what your domain name is? This could be a DNS issue we need to look into in the meantime to avoid delays. If you don't want to post it here, email support@yola.com and we will look into it for you.
