Yola Logins Disabled for Maintenance: Update

First of all I want to say a huge thank you to every one who has been so supportive and patient with us up till now. Yola recognizes that the lengthy, unexpected interruption of access to the site builder has been a significant inconvenience to many of you. To those of you who have been patient with us, in spite of this, we thank you. For those of you who have expressed anger and frustration - we fully understand and can only offer our deep regret.

When we first became aware of this problem we were asked to estimate how long access to accounts would be down for. We set an expectation of "Monday, start of business PDT or sometime between 4 and 5PM, GMT. " We have now reached that time. I had hoped to be in a position to give you good news, but I am afraid I have to inform you that we need more time. Our best estimate at this point is Monday evening PDT, although we will finish sooner if we possibly can.

Many of you have requested concrete information about what is going on. We have tried to provide that to the best of our ability. Here is a summary of what we know:

1) This problem was caused by a bug (an error in our code). We made some recent changes and one of these changes had an unanticipated effect on some of our customers' sites.
2) The symptom of the problem was that when customers opened their sites to edit them, they simply saw an error message informing them that there was a problem opening the page and they were unable to edit. This affected a small percentage of our customers' sites, but the longer we allowed people to log in and edit, the more people could potentially have been affected. It is possible that your site is one of these with the error, or if you had been in a position to edit your site today you might have encountered the error.
3) This bug is taking a long time to fix, because it affects individual sites, not simply an aspect of functionality in the site builder. Scripts need to be run to fix the error, and we have to wait for these actions to complete. We can only guess how long it will take by watching the progress, and it is now clear that more time is needed.

This thread now becomes our latest update on the situation and we will add to it as further information becomes available. We are doing all we can to correct the problem caused by our error, and prevent it from happening in future.

I am being completely patient. Just take your time on fixing the site builder. Anything it takes to get it back to normal, I don't rush. You guys are great, and I adore ya for that! :) To the people letting out anger in this matter, Yola being offline is better than no one being here to fix it. I'm just sayin'. :)

We're all thankful for the attention and genuine concern you show, and recognize the unattractive position you're in. And will follow this thread for updates..

But EVERYONE PLEASE if you do not have something relevant to say, please hold off... My inbox is getting crazy busy...

Let this post serve as a collective THANK YOU for the great customer support... AS WELL AS a notification that getting on the site is important (from the haters). I found Yola, and paid 30$ on Wed of last week to have webhosting and yola removed, and was in the middle of edits (which I fear are lost) so can empathize with you people... but stop with the hate-posts, they are not constructive. The more they respond to them, the longer it will take to solve.

Thanks for the good work... we will all simma donna...

Thanks Litteleus... Still interested to see the progress as I directed many ppl to my page/ but then was unable to make those edits... Ill deal with the responses if they are a necessary evil. In the future my company (work at financial software company) has the ability for clients to sign up for "notification" letters depending on different topics.. Something like that could be good here to, so we all could click on 1 link to join the notification list... then only get the emails from y'all that matter... and not random space needle greeting cards.. Just poking fun Jillian.. I love yola too... just don't have them on my xmas card list quite yet ;)

Well, I'm concerned because I have my website makeover contest submission ready to send and I can't send it---this delay is stealing my submission deadline hours! Could you please extebd tge cibtest deadline? Considering this is Yola's fault and not mine?

Anyone that does business on the net has to know these things happen.Not any of us like it but it is part of doing business.I am thankful that Yola had the wisdom to separate site builder from published sites.Most services do not do this and WHEN there is a problem your published site is down also.

Sorry to see the problem is still here for us. I'm ok with it cause I am downloading product discriptions that I need for the site I am building.
As for the ones who preferr to scream and cry and send hate post.
GROW UP! If you whinners can do any better then do it.
Yola has done a great job and every place has some kind of problem sooner or later.

Hi Taylor,

Unfortunately you can't build a website with Yola at the moment as our site builders have been closed down while our engineers work to repair a bug.

Once we have enabled logins you will be able to sign up for an account (if you haven't already) and get started.

If you get stuck you can ask questions here in this forum and lots of people will help you, or you can email support@yola.com

Hey Taylor,
If you have not taken a look at the tutorails yet take a look at them. They are real helpfull. I know how it is for learning how make a web site.I never had any luck at building one until I found Yola. There are several tutorials and they each one take step by step through the process. Sorry about my spelling sometimes I get in hurry and don't use the dictionary.

Well I just want to say thank you for fixing the problem now before it gets worse...this is an awesome site...that I will continue to use...people getting upset just need to understand that when your online things can happen...so again I wanna thank you for the site and for doing your best to keep it up and running.
