Hi Marg

Thank you for taking the trouble to ask this question! I can assure you that you can keep your synthasite address forever and we will never force a change on you. Your .synthasite.com domain will continue to work forever, if you so desire.

Also, should you elect to change to a .yolasite.com subdomain, any traffic to your old subdomain will automatically redirect to the new one, so you won't lose any visitors.

However, this is a very personal choice and is entirely up to you. You should be sure that you are aware of all the implications and that you make the best decision for your site. Once you make the switch there is no way to get your old domain back, so it is good to do your research.

For more detailed information, see: http://blog.yola.com/2009/05/14/yolas...

If anything is still unclear, please let us know.

Why have two names Monique? Drop the synthasite name and simplify things!

That might simplify things, but would not be very nice for customers who have established synthasite domains! We decided to change our company name, but we do not feel that it is fair to force this change on people who published sites with us while we were known as SynthaSite. We have made some compromises, like making all newly published sites to yolasite.com, but we have tried to take care of our existing and our new customers to the best of our ability.

Hi marg

If you've already published your site under the synthasite name, then it is your decision if you want to keep that. It will not change at all. However, if you decide to switch over to yolasite, then there is no going back to synthasite.

If you have not yet published a site, then all new sites will automatically have the yolasite subdomain.

Here's more information that you may find helpful:

Hi, sorry for hijacking someone else's thread but I had the same question re the Yolasite -vs- Synthasite extension BUT now after just reading "littleus" response, and I quote

"If you have not yet published a site, then all new sites will automatically have the yolasite subdomain."

I have been working on my site for many many months as time permits me too, my site is NOT published so are you saying that when time comes and I'm ready to publish I am automatically going to be stuck with a yolasite.com even tho I originally signed up months ago to "synthasite" ????

Hi INDI,

That is correct you will need to publish to a .yolasite.com subdomain name. If you don't wish to use .yolasite.com then an alternative option would be to purchase a custom (or dotcom) domain name.

I'm sorry you don't like the yolasite.com extension.
