Yola servers... VERY slow site access and page load times today?

Are Yola sites loading slowly today? I just upgraded to Silver over the weekend, and my site load times today are widely variable and often VERY long. In some cases even the initial connection to the Yola servers seems to take forever. My site is www.ibeamconsulting.com. Thanks.

Hi rjk1, In reviewing your screenshot, I'm not convinced that error is connected to the server issue we believe our restart should have resolved. Can you please give us the site address that it occurred on so we can look into it further?

I am getting the following once in awhile today.

Once on MY Yola I sometimes get 500 Time Out when I click to enter the site builder for my domain.

Sometimes after I am able to get into site builder and try to go to a page I want to edit I get Service Temporarily Unavailable

Yes I tried other browsers and cleared cache

Hi David and rjk1,

We were seeing some slowness with one of our servers about an hour ago so we restarted it and haven't seen any further issues since. Can you please let us know if you are still experiencing any slowness or errors?

I have just tried to load my site and it is extremely slow to load. I am using Google Chrome. Just moving from the Home page to another is terribly slow.

504 Gateway Time-out

The server didn't respond in time.

That is how slow

Just an update, we restarted two more of our Sitebuilder servers and our engineers believe this should solve the problem completely. Please let us know if it does not.

Thanks for your help. Possibly some improvement, but still lots of variability, with extreme server delays in some cases. I'm using http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt for testing, plus just checking on my own (with Chrome browser).

Pingdom can't find http://www.ibeamconsulting.com/images.... I don't think I added that image or directory. Can you tell me if/how I can delete this image reference? My site is www.ibeamconsulting.com.

Seems like Pingdom is seeing most delays when accessing elements from the /resources directory for my site.

Also see my recent tweet from @davidkamm.

Hi David,

I'll double check with my engineers but that does not sound like it would be related to the slow loading that was causing the 500 errors earlier. Our monitoring indicates that issue has been resolved by restarting the Sitebuilder servers that were affected.

To delete an image reference, you must delete the file from your File Manager:

On the main menu bar, click on Site > File Manager.
Locate the file you wish to delete.
Right-click on the file.
Select "Delete".

Please let me know if I have misunderstood your request.

Hi David,

I checked with a colleague who tells me that Pingdom is referencing a file that doesnt exist on your site (img01.jpg), so my advice above would not serve you. We think you may need to touch base with Pingdom in regards to this.

Yes... it is looking for http://www.ibeamconsulting.com/images... (and not finding it). This file is not in my File Manager area, and other template images called img01.jpg (via different URLs) seem to be loading OK. Maybe it is something wrong with the Pingdom tool. Thanks.

Some advice please.

Thanks

Hi Leah,

Please tell us more about the images you are uploading as I doubt it is related to our server restarts. What is the size and file name of your images? Are you using any special characters in the file names? Only alphanumeric digits are supported. Please let us know if this doesn't help.

Ok the banner image is 49.2 kb, I have reduced this down as far as I dare before it is unusable. Photos are around 112kb each I tried to load three but it won't let me.
I have just changed the banner again on the home page. It loads on to the page and I click save. If I then go to another page and return it has gone. I have tried to apply to ever page and click through but it is not there. I have deleted from my files and re-uploaded and repeated the process and the same thing. I have cleared the cache also to see if that helped but no.
The site is not live as I am working on it to go live but this has been a bit of a set back. I must say though that up until yesterday there had never been an issue with any of the other websites

What is wrong with Yola today? It crashes at almost every click. I'm trying to do some work here but it's become impossible. Do I owe Yola some money?

  • The "Oops ... " message is acknowledged as being recorded by the servers so that would be within your own records.
  • Don't know how to take a screen-shot of a delay.
  • A hang generally locks you out of the page and functions so don't know how to capture such

Thanks, Gop.  We will still need more information in order to locate the error in our logs.

The specific steps you are taking that result in the problems are needed so that we can try replicating the issue, and before we can proceed further, we will need to see the specific error message.

Does the error look like this?  If so, could click the letter O in the word "wrong" 3 times and send us the text you see there?

Thanks!

I will wait for the next appearance of the message to do that. Sorry I had missed the clear instructions in the site FAQ's for pre-empting such a way to identify the buried error message  ?

In the meantime I could swing a chicken around my head three times while facing north and then store it in the deep freeze for 2 days.... if that helps.... or maybe there's an online treasure hunt facility that reveals all with regard to Yola debugging?

What a system!

I'm also experiencing problems with the sitebuilder. Since the update, loading widgets and saving pages has been very slow and I often have to wait up to a minute for each procedure. It's very frustrating indeed!
