Hi everyone

In a few days we will be launching an exciting new subscription package called Yola Silver, and I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about it.

We know that as a small business, having a space on the web that is truly yours is extremely important. And we know that for you to stand out and be in control of your online destiny, you need a custom domain name to send your visitors to. So that's why we're introducing Yola Silver -- a package that has all the great features that are in our existing Yola Pro package, plus two important additions:

  • A custom domain name (including private registration) (a value of $29.95 / year)

  • A credit to create your own logo for your website through our partnership with HP -- check it out at http://logomaker.com/ (a value of $50)

And as I mentioned, Yola Silver includes all the great features in our existing Yola Pro package:

  • A credit for a Premium Style (value up to $39.95)

  • Yola links removed from all your websites

  • Create more sites, get more storage, upload larger files

  • Advertising credits valued at $60

What's the price for this great package, you ask? Here's the crazy part. We are keeping the price of our premium package exactly the same: $49.95 per year.

That's right. Our Yola Silver package, which includes a custom domain name and private registration, will still be the same price as the Yola Pro package that it is replacing: $49.95 per year.

We'll tell you more once we launch the package, for now we just wanted to give you a heads-up that something exciting is brewing here at Yola! Here's some additional detail for those who are interested:

  • As part of this release, we are removing the option to purchase Yola Link Removal (removing the Yola attribution from the bottom of basic styles) as an a la carte option. Yola Link Removal will now only be part of Yola Silver. Those of you who bought Yola Link Removal before - don't worry, you get to keep Yola Link Removal as a feature on your account indefinitely.

  • We also have some great news for our existing Yola Pro customers: you will automatically be upgraded to Yola Silver at no extra cost, and we will also give you a credit for a custom domain name, which you can use to get a new custom domain or renew an existing Yola domain for 1 year. And yes, your yearly cost will remain $49.95/year.

Look for more information from us in the coming days as these changes go live. As always, we welcome your comments and feedback!

I kinda figured something like this was coming, but I thought it would include something different than the pro package. So it's the same price as the pro package yet you get two additional items? That kinda makes me upset seeing how I have Pro and if I want to switch it will cost me $50 to start the plan. Doesn't seem quite fair in my eyes. Everybody including myself should have just waited for this to come out seeing how it is a better deal. Unless you are upgrading people that have Pro automatically? ;) Because technically we are paying the same price. Also, I sense another package or two coming out in the future since this is "Silver" and most deals have a "Silver", "Gold", and "Platinum."

Hi lambofgod,

We are upgrading all Yola Pro users to Yola Silver! Great news!

Here is the excerpt from the post above:

Diane - transfers will not be included in this first release, but it is something we plan to do in a subsequent release. (You could, however, transfer a domain first, and then upgrade to Yola Silver once the transfer is complete, in which case you can use your domain credit to extend your expiration date by a year)

John - you are correct - you don't have to pay anything until your Pro renewal date, and you still get a domain credit. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it is :)

Excuse me, but why do you say a domain name is worth $30? I own several domains and I've never paid more than $10 for one.

Just wondering...

The cost of a domain for one year, plus private registration through Yola is $29.95. However, if you buy Yola Silver this is included.

That's what I mean, why does Yola charge $30 per year for something I can buy elsewhere for $10 per year?

It is true that you can buy your domain elsewhere for cheaper and then point it to Yola and use our free hosting. However, if you buy your domain through us we take care of all the set up issues for you. We believe that when you consider everything Yola has to offer - a great, easy to use sitebuilder, one click to publish and outstanding support then it is a fabulous deal, even if we can't compete directly on the price of a domain name with some of the cheapest providers.

Also, by buying domains through Yola, you get access to our distributed DNS service, powered by Neustar which increases the load times globally for your visitors. It's a kinda technical geeky thing, but it can make a big difference.

Oops, typo-gremlins in that post. What Vinny meant to say was "decreases the load times globally for your visitors"! Even CEO's make the odd mistake. Phew! - I feel so much better about all the many typos I have made in this forum over the years ;)

I just bought Yola Pro for two accounts. Does that mean I have to wait until next year's renewal for the logo deal?

Either way, thanks to Rian and the rest of the Yola team.

Good question! My understanding is that you will be able to take advantage of the logo deal immediately and you don't have to wait till next year. If I have it wrong I will be back to apologize and correct myself ;) Or Rian can do that for me!

I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately that is not the case. I think we can all agree that getting a domain credit at no extra cost is a pretty good deal! The Logomaker credit will be distributed once existing Pro users renew their package, yes.

Monique, I understand what you're saying. What I mean is I don't agree with the wording that it's a $29.95 "value". It's just a question of semantics.

And I do appreciate all the features (including the prompt support!) and if after a period of testing I decide to continue using it I will certainly pay the annual fee, which is very reasonable.

Why are you removing the option to purchase Yola Link Removal? I think it would be a good thing to keep this option for those who don't really need the whole package. E.g. for smaller non-profit organizations or personal websites.

In order to simplify our product offerings and offer maximum value we will be moving more and more of our premium features into packages. We found that more people prefer to purchase a package deal, and it becomes very complicated to maintain both a la carte features and packages.

Hi Jake,

Existing Yola Pro users will be upgraded to Yola Silver automatically, and at no extra cost. To say thank you for being such loyal customers, we are giving you a 1-year domain credit immediately - again, at no extra cost to you. You can use this credit to get a custom domain for your site, or to extend your existing Yola domain by 1 year.

Maybe I am worrying unnecessarily.... Maybe there is a way to remove that link cheaply with all the uneeded extras.

I am building a real estate website now... They already have their domain name and their logo.

Help... what are you doing????????????????????

This surely is just forcing people to buy stuff they dont want and dont need.

I have to start all over and go learn a new system somewhere when I was just getting my head around Yola.

$49 is like $120 once I do the currency conversion, as opposed to about $25 dollars.
