Yola Site/ Custom Domain redirect with Aweber Custom Thank You Page

Hi,

I have a subdomain called http://lionbrands.yolasite.com I have recently transferred my custom domain called http://lionbrands.co.za to a new host, added this custom domain to my Yola account and set it as my primary domain, for SEO purposes.

The redirect on my custom domain name, lionbrands.co.za is not active any longer and no longer redirects to my Yola subdomain, which is correct. However, I have integrated Aweber web forms on my custom domain with custom 'thank you' pages set on the Aweber backend.

After testing myself and from form sign-ups, it's clear that it does not redirect to my custom 'thank you' page which is located at http://lionbrands.co.za/thank-you-for... but redirecting to a page with URL http://lionbrands.co.za/thank-you-nex... which of course does not exist. I need to mention that this URL is correctly set up on the Aweber backend in the custom 'thank you' page field.

Furthermore, when any new subscriber subscribes, this is the following confirmation that I as the administrator receive:

**************************************************************************************
## This is a confirmation message from your AWeber ## account unit name "nextsteps1". The person below was added ## to your leads list and emailed message 1.

FORM DATA:
meta_web_form_id: 1136211765

meta_split_id:

listname: nextsteps1

redirect: http://www.lionbrands.yolasite.com/th...

meta_redirect_onlist: http://www.lionbrands.yolasite.com/th...

meta_adtracking: next_steps

meta_message: 1

meta_required: name (awf_first),name (awf_last),email,custom Cell or Contact Number, custom Show me the Next Steps to becoming a -
*********************************************************************************************

Note the "redirect" and "meta_redirect_onlist" above.

Please shed some light on the above for me?

Kind regards,
Warren

Hello Warren

If I understand your post correctly, the message you quoted is sent to you by Aweber, is that right? As far as I can see, this seems to be a confirmation e-mail providing you details on the form sent when someone subscribed. As this is not a Yola feature, we won't be able to support you much with it. You may want to contact Aweber support for assistance on this matter.

With regard to the Thank you page, I can open neither of the links you posted, I'm getting a Page not found error for both, so it seems that neither of these pages exists. If you're linking from the Aweber tool to one of your Yola website pages, you'd need to make sure that your pages are published and your URL is correct.

That is a confirmation of a subscriber from Aweber, that's correct.

My client seems to have removed those custom Thank You pages from his lionbrands.co.za domain as he needed to do something about the issue which was that even though the custom pages existed on his domain lionbrands.co.za it redirected users to the http://lionbrands.yolasite.com domain which of course the pages didn't and never were supposed to exist on the Yola Site.

Is it clear now?

With his domain being live on lionbrands.co.za he created custom Thank You pages on that domain. He then specified the correct URL's in his Aweber account to those pages but when those pages were accessed, it redirected him to the Yola site, which is why users got the 404 Errors as those pages didn't exist on the Yola site.

This must be an issue of a redirect between his live self-hosted domain lionbrands.co.za and lionbrands.yolasite.com

Kind regards,
Ruan

Hello Ruan

Thank you for providing more information. What doesn't make sense to me is that you say above that you have moved your domain lionbrands.co.za to another provider, but you added it to Yola and made it the primary domain. This would only work if you point your domain to Yola.

However, when I look up the domain settings for lionbrands.co.za, it says that it's not pointing to Yola because it has different A records. There is also a non-Yola website published to this domain. I'm presuming that this is desired?

As you say that some lionbrands.co.za URLs somehow still redirect to Yola URLs, can you please check your account with your external registrar if there are still Yola records, such as our IP address 184.72.229.176? This is the only reason I could think of that could make your lionbrands.co.za URLs redirect to Yola subdomain URLs. Otherwise you should also contact your other registrar's support and ask if all records pointing to Yola have been fully removed.

The domain was originally started on a Yola sub-domain as far as I can understand from my client. Then he decided to go the self-hosted route later on.

He said he didn't want to lose any SEO and also visitor relationships hence he kept the Yola going and just added the lionbrands.co.za to the Yola account and made it promary.

Attached, please find a screenshot of the current DNS records with the current registrar.

Hopefully we can get to make sense of what's going on soon.

Thanks,
Ruan

Hi Ruan,

I have read up on this thread and I see that neither the domain nor the site is hosted with Yola anymore.

If the Aweber form isn't located on a Yola site then there is little we can do to help.

Aweber have some great documentation and support so you they would probably be able to assist you more. https://help.aweber.com/forums

If I have misunderstood your question, please let me know.

Hi Jeremy,

I am trying to get feedback from my client as it looks like he removed the domain from his Yola account without informing me of this.

What I still can't understand is this. Why does the following URL still want to redirect to another URL on a Yola sub-domain?

http://lionbrands.co.za/backup/videos...

It tries to redirect to this:

http://lionbrands.yolasite.com/backup...

Does not make any sense. Aweber is just going to tell me this is a hosting issue with redirects on the domain.
