I'm considering using Yola for an html site builder, so that the sites I build can be viewed on an Ipad or Iphone. Can you confirm that the sites are html based and not flash?

Yes they are HTML tammy, it's not that complacated. You can tell when a site is either HTML or Flash by going to a Yola site, and right click on the site. If a site was flash based, it would say About Adobe Flash Player on the menu that comes up when you right click.

Great tidbit! Have you experienced any issues with the Yola sites on the Ipad or Smart phones?

Hello Tammy

I can confirm what Austin says above. Yola websites are all HTML based because we believe it's the best way to have a website.

There aren't any issues on iPads or smartphone, the only exception is that you cannot edit your Yola website well on an iPad because the Yola Sitebuilder is not compatible with iPads. For more information please see one of our engineer's post on this subject: Yola on the iPad. The general functionality of a live Yola website is not affected on an iPad.

Smartphones: Yola offers a Mobile version of your Yola website for smartphones. Please note that in order to make it easy to work on smartphones, the Mobile version of your Yola website will be quite simplified and not each additional feature will work, such as custom code added to your site using the HTML Widget. For more information please see this thread: Mobile and Facebook formatting.

Hi all,

I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'd add to it...
A website I'm building views well in all browsers on pc or mac,

BUT on an ipad, the BODY of the website moves to the left of the screen.
Instead of being centralized. please help me!

v. annoying

Thank, Mick

Hi Mick

I was able to replicate it on an iPhone, and I can see that every page of your website is affected. I know that you've changed a lot of CSS for your Style. Did you maybe change the spacing around your content area, or its size? Could also be a doubled code snippet in your overrides area.

Yea, you know it! for sure, there must be something. My bet is on the Jquery proportion of CSS. There's some useless information in there, I'm thinking might be causing the conflict. Ok, just edited the CSS more.. stripped away as much of the useless stuff as I could. I checked the HTML of the Jquery slider as well, but my bet is on CSS. Just not sure where/what.. I'll keep trying...

Resolved: Well, sort of.

It's basically, because I changed the HEADER size in my CSS.
It was at 1300px instead of standard 920px. I changed it back and I'm certain it has worked. So, I'll just have to re-design the Header. I will try tweek it to get the desired effect I had in mind.. I may just leave my MENU the way it was, remove the header and add an image to the Site tracking code Header section. I basically want the Banner to stretch the whole width of the website.

I also found this cool little tool: http://ipadpeek.com/

Thanks for input Stefan ;)

omg I have to say, I do love Yola :) ok, so I just added a background image in the CSS over-ride.. it compliments the new 920px header.. and it works on ipadpeek with the desired effect.

wunderbar!

Hello Sal,

The player won't appear because it is a Flash element and iOS doesn't handle this at the moment. I don't know the reason for the file not to play?

iOS ( Apple iPhone) supports the following audio formats:
AAC (16 to 320 Kbps)
AIFF
AAC Protected (MP4 from iTunes Store)
MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps)
MP3 VBR
Audible (formats 2-4)
Apple Lossless
WAV

AIFF, MP3 and WAV are probably the most common file formats used by site builders.

I haven't tried this to test the iOS devices, but you may like to simply place the file link at that place without the player and see if it will play on your iPhone? If it does then I guess the linkage through the Yola Flash player is preventing the file from playing. You could then investigate another idea for indicating your sound file. eg an image or a static image of a player (?)

Ahh the problem is, I like to give the reader the opportunity to turn the music off if they require to. Hopefully iphone will eventually be able to deal with flash players. I do know I get more visitors from the internet and not phones..so for now prefer to leave as is. Thanks for getting back to me!
