Hi All

We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with one of our servers. Some of you might find that you are unable to load your sites.

Logins for new sessions have been temporarily disabled.

Our engineers are working on it and we should be back to normal soon. I will update you on this thread as soon as I have any further information.

We apologize for the interruption of our service and any inconvenience caused.

Monique, my site updates perfectly when I'm in Mozilla Firefox but when I check the site in Internet Explorer, half the page on the main blog is missing - all the widgets are gone. There should be a weather widget in the top right corner and it is there in Mozilla but not IE when I'm actually on http://www.masonmetu.com. Please help. I've spent all day revamping and now this. Ahhhhhh.....

Hi Kristin

Most likely the reason why you're experiencing difficulty is because you have Word formatting throughout your site which usually creates a number of problems.

The best thing to do is to copy your text from your site and paste into Notepad - found in your accessories folder on your desktop (this strips away the formatting), then copy and paste into a new text box. You will need to do this for all your text and for any codes you may have copied from another source.

Next time, always be sure to paste into Notepad first. =)

Please let us know if this resolves the problems.

It's very strange that when I click on one of my blog articles at the bottom of the page that all the widgets will magically reappear after I click via IE. I haven't run into the problem on the other pages even with the word formatting - I've tried to remove some of that and go via notepad - slow process but now I'm having difficulty after rearranging the widgets - they all pulled up just fine prior to the rearrangement so don't know why it would all of a sudden do this flukie thing even if I still have the word formatting. Some of the widgets I know don't have word formatting since I typed them myself into yola so why would that happen with those?

Also, that doesn't really answer the question as to why it pulls up just great vial Mozilla and not on Internet Explorer - still frustrated for sure.

Thanks for the feedback - I will try to strip out the word formatting. It will be a slow, agonizign process for sure. Is there light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks,
kristin

The widgets that you typed in yourself are fine but they may be affected by the other inherent word formatting. Often we see that sites are fine for a time but then problems crop up due to this formatting. It is a slow, laborious process but I think it will be well-worth it. Firefox is able to overlook the Word formatting but IE does not.

Keep your chin up and you will soon see the light! =)

No problem with the site. Everything cuts and pastes just fine EXCEPT Google's Webmaster code. When I cut and pasted it in on "Properties"/"Webmaster Code", the html gets translated: Example:

THIS

meta name="verify-v1" content="MgMiX9xISUno3lXYeMvnIUXdxNkTVIc11BXJ0AnEeZQ="

BECOMES THIS

meta name="verify-v1" content=<meta name="verify-v1"
content=" MgMiX9xISUno3lXYeMvnIUXdxNkTVIc11BXJ0AnEeZQ=" > /

Can't seem to work around it.

Hello Tony,

Just to clarify:

The only piece of code you need to paste into the webmaster code is MgMiX9xISUno3lXYeMvnIUXdxNkTVIc11BXJ0AnEeZQ=

Nothing else needs to be copied or placed into your page for this process.

The Yola Tutorial is: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/google-...

This same process is applied when installing Google Analytics: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/analytics

It is an often confused instruction but when you do this it will be up and running.

Good luck

Hi Littleus, well, the light has shone down and I am back up and running. There was something quirky with the new formatting for the page I picked. So, I revamped and tried to take out those nasty word docs - who knows if I got them all but I am back in buisness - the site looks cleaner now so maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Darn that IE - why can't they get with the program - lol. I will be using that notepad all the time now - I just have so much content that I haven't even begun to tackle my other pages. Thansk for your help. Kristin

@Kristin - I have just replied to your email in support. I then found this thread that was active after I went offline last night. Sorry you had to go through this, but your site will work a lot better if you purge the text pasted directly from Word. I must confess I find it ironic that Firefox copes better with text pasted from Word than Internet Explorer. As Internet Explorer is a Microsoft product, one would expect the two programs to work better together. But, it is what it is, and the only safe course when building a website is to paste plain text only.

@Littleus - thanks so much for helping! Your advice was spot on.

Hi Forest. See my comment at the top of this thread. This problem happened 15 hours ago and lasted for a total of 20 minutes, after which it was fully resolved. Yola's published sites were not down at any time. Only the site builder was affected. If you are having a problem with your site we need to treat it as a separate issue. Please post your URL so that we can assist you.

Can you tell me when you bought this domain? It might be that the DNS settings have not had a chance to propogate yet. Let me know and we will get to the bottom of this.

Hi Monique, thanks for the feedback. Yes, I will have to go back through the site and strip out all that word "junk". I had no clue about that when I started my site but you live and learn. I'm not looking forward to re-doing it all so I will do baby steps. lol. Thanks to you and littleus for helping me.

Littleus suggested a tutorial on this topic that we link to from the Help Menu in Yola. We have written it and are going to publish it soon. Hopefully it can help others with a similar problem.

Hey Monique.. another suggestion you could maybe implement is to have a pop-up tip page. The user can have the option of turning off the tips. If they want to see more tips, then they can click on the link to see more tips. I don't know this if would be a better method or not.

Would LOVE to do that. Unfortunately it is not my department so I will have to wait and ask. My idea is: get the tutorial up and running and link to it from every possible location. Then ask the developers to add a tooltip that links to the tutorial and can be turned off. The tooltip is important, because we ideally want people to get the message before they make the mistake, not after.

I agree Monique. The sooner we can get the tutorial out, the better! Then, hopefully this will help lessen future problems.

I have had this domain for a couple of years now but transferred it to Yola a few weeks ago. It is due for renewal next month, for I have already paid Yola.

I cancelled my old services at 1&1 last week and even though the transfer to Yola went through okay, could this have anything to do with it? Thanks.

Has the site ever been up since you made the transfer? Or has it only stopped working recently? Let me know. Meanwhile I am referring this to someone who can assist you with your DNS.

Hi Forest - we've found the issue and fixed it. There seemed to be an error with the DNS setup on your domain. Your site should be working soon, as the changes need to propagate through the internet. I'm keeping an eye on it until it does :)

Apologies for any frustration this may have caused.

Hi Andrew - does an error open when you try to upload a file to your File Manager? If so, can you try these steps:
1. Check what version of Flash you have installed. In order to find out click this link: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC.... Please ensure you are using the latest version of Flash.
2. If you have access to a different browser, computer or network environment please try to upload a file and let us know if the error still occurs or if you get a different result.
3. Please can you try logging out of your Yola account and clearing your browser's cache (this link has more information: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Bro...)
4. Please can you make sure that your browser is set to accept cookies from Yola (this link has more information: http://www.google.com/cookies.html)

If that doesn't help - please could you give us more information on what the error message says.

Hi,

I am trying to Edit HTML Codes on my site but for some reason the explorer becomes non-responsive and ends up killing IE. I tried it in Google Chrome as well and I have also tried to do this from a different location and on a different computer thinking my PC may have some issues, but the program still becomes non-responsive and i am unable to edit even a single word on the HTML code window.

Has anyone else faced this problem?

Would appreciate if you could kindly let me know how to overcome this issue.

This sounds like a problem with the type of code you are trying to introduce. Would you mind starting a new thread so we can troubleshoot this with you? Your post is not related to the current thread, so it gets a little confusing.
