Yolasite.com now Available!

Hi All

The long wait is finally over! You can now publish your sites to a shiny new yolasite.com subdomain!

You will see this option when you log into your account on your "My Sites" page. You will either have the option to publish to the yolasite version of your current synthasite.com domain, or a new name of your choosing.

You can also access this option via the publishing settings dialog box by clicking on "change subdomain".

Please note:
1) Once you change your subdomain there is no way to revert back to a synthasite.com subdomain, so make sure you really want to do this. You will be asked to type in the word "change" to confirm your choice.
2) You can keep publishing to your synthasite.com subdomain forever if you have an existing site on that domain. However, no new sites can be published to synthasite.com.
3) If you decide to change your subdomain, all your traffic to your synthasite.com domain will automatically redirect.
4) We will reserve the yolasite.com version of your current synthasite.com domain for you until the 31st of May. For example, if you own moniquesite.synthasite.com only you will be able to publish to moniquesite.yolasite.com during this time. After the 31st your old name will be released for general use. We have done this to give everyone a fair chance to secure the yolasite.com version of their existing domains.
5) If you decide to change subdomains, you will need to reconfigure anything that is URL sensitive, such as Google Webmaster, Google Analytics, JS-Kit comments etc.

I am excited to announce that this option is now available. If there are any other questions, please let us know.

Hi Miguel,
Sorry to hear this happening - can you try these steps:
1. Logout and login again - we just did the update, so that may help.
2. Check to see if you are having problems with your network or internet service provider.
3. Clear your browser's cache. This link has more information: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Bro....
4. Check your privacy settings. You must accept cookies from Yola. Please click on this link to find instructions for accepting cookies with your browser: http://www.google.com/cookies.html.
5. Check that your browser is set to enable Javascript. This link has more information on how to check: http://www.ehow.com/how_4815661_turn-....
6. Try loading the site in a different browser (eg. Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer).
7. Try loading the site on a different computer or network if possible.

Please come back to us if none of the above suggestions help.

That sounds unrelated to the release, and might be something to do with some text or code on your page. Can you email support@yola.com so we can investigate? You have a lovely sight and we would like to help with this!

Hi Miguel - if you're getting that error message, it means that you have invalid HTML on your site. Can you send an email to support@yola.com so that we can help you solve the problem. You can mark it for my attention (Marije) if you wish.

@Hussain - yes we wanted to make this as fair as possible for everyone and we received strong feedback that people wanted us to reserve their names. We are taking care of our loyal customers by giving them a chance to secure the yolasite version of their domain. However, after that opportunity has expired, a lot of names will most likely be released into general use, giving new site builders the possibility of securing a desired domain that might have been taken ;)

The issue of the footer is not related to this release, but we are aware of this feedback and are working on a solution under a different project.

I hope your patience will be rewarded and you will get the names you want. Remember that we have to consider almost 2 million people and not everyone logs into their accounts every day. We don't want anyone coming back to us saying that they didn't have a chance to secure their domain. Especially people who have put a lot of work into promoting their sites! At the same time we haven't reserved all the names forever - so you have a unique opportunity here. Usually once a domain is taken there is no hope of securing it unless you buy it from the owner :) I hope most people will find our solution an acceptable compromise.

Hello Monique, i also dont like to take any other persons domain, its not make a sence and which domain i want to get this is On "The requested URL was not found." Nearly one year have been (or Over), The person have not make any thing on it and just take the domains and take a corner. never check and back to see the domain. and i have personally feelings about it. :)
May be this seem so cheap :(

As I have explained to you, the person who secures the domain retains ownership of it, whether they have anything published to that domain or not. This is the only way we can fairly administer things at this time. Fortunately this change to yolasite.com is giving you a window of opportunity to secure your chosen domain. Please understand our situation and take your opportunity when it comes.

If you have a custom domain (eg .com, .info, .org etc) please hold off on changing to a yolasite.com subdomain. It seems that there is a strange error in the code that is causing the redirect to work incorrectly.

If you change to yolasite.com your custom domain will redirect to your subdomain. We are very sorry that this bug crept through. Our engineers are working on it and we should have a fix soon. I will update this thread and let you know when it is safe to change over.

Don't worry - your domain will be reserved for you while we work on this!!

Once you change to yolasite.com, you cannot revert back to synthasite.com.

Your .synthasite will redirect to your .yolasite transparently, Alex.
You just need to watch calling your images in your file manager though.
If you are using the full URL (as opposed to /recources/img.jpg) you will
have to change the path. Hope that wasn't to cryptic ;-)

After the 31st your old name will be released for general use. We have done this to give everyone a fair chance to secure the yolasite.com version of their existing domains.

Has a specific time been decided on for the releasing of the old names ?

Hi Alex,

It means that we are giving people a little more time to publish to a .yolasite domain name if they wish (using the domain that they had as .synthasite.com) and we want to release this function during the week so that various engineers and support staff can be available in case of unforseen problems.

Does that answer your question?

Alex... I believe that the hold for yolasite.com domains for previous synthasite holders will be released. So, if you previously published as mysite.synthasite.com, the mysite.yolasite.com has been kept on hold for a period of time. But, this time period will soon expire. Once it expires, then anyone can claim the mysite.yolasite.com address.

We are no longer reserving yolasite domains. This means that is someone has published to example.synthasite.com, but has not switched over to example.yolasite.com - you will not get an "available" message when you search for this domain.

So any old synthasite domains that have not been reserved are now added to pool of available Yolasite domains.

I have posted my own site in yolasite.com. At first I was registered using my email @plasa.com. For some reasons, I have changed then to my email @yahoo.com. I have build some pages there (as the site can be achieved up to now).

But e few moments ago when I login to yolasite, to edit my pages there was and up to now is yolasite always offer me to built a new site. Where are my existing pages (though can be achieved normally) which I can update to? I have told this problem to yola support (support@yola.com) and have clue, but I still haven't got the pages I have built before! What happened with my account and the pages (that can be accessed but couldn't be updated)? Please help me and give me the clues.

I need the pages as to be references for something I have to do. Thank you!

My site at yola is: http://musazakaria.yolasite.com

Hi T.M.

Changing your email address shouldn't affect your site, unless you accidentally created a new account with Yola. If this is the case, you should still have access to your old Yola site by using the original email you used to log in.

This is what I see on your site:

Can you also try clearing the cache in your browser and re-log back in and see if this makes any difference?

I have tried with my old login preference (musazakaria@plasa.com), there was a message: "You may have entered the wrong login details. Please try again. [Close]".

And I tried, the result is like this:
with new login preference (musazakaria@yahoo.com)

It show only one new page recently open: (index)?

Sure yes, I have cleaned the cache and browsing data by using [Tools], [Option] and [Clear Now] of all parameters in [Settings] of Mozilla Firefox.3.0.7, but the result is still like the above picture... So where are my pages??

I see Marije has already replied to you in support. The email address she sent you is the one we have associated with our account in our database. This is the email you used when you created the account and built the site. I will leave her to work through the problem with you to find out why you are unable to log in. It sounds like you need to reset your password.
